Story
Ginny is a beautiful 50 lb shiba inu mix who originally came to us from the reservation.  She was adopted to a couple who returned her when they had a baby.  It sounded like the new parents and Ginny were all struggling to adapt to a big life change.  Ginny was heartbroken after losing her family but has slowly come out of her shell.  We have witnessed her to be guarded and very slow to warm up to new humans in her life.  She is very protective of her personal space and we've seen some resource guarding. Therefore, she will need be in a home with very patient adults, and possibly older children, with a consistent routine without a lot of new people coming and going.  She appears to be crate trained and will need to be fed in her crate or a room by herself.    She is an active girl who loves long walks and would enjoy a fenced yard for outdoor play, but is unlikely to be a dog park dog.  She entertains herself playing with her toys or chewing on bones.  She is highly intelligent and has mastered the commands "sit", "paw" and "down".  She is food motivated and once you're on her A list, she is eager to please.   Ginny has a dominant personality so she would likely do best in a home without other dogs or with a more submissive dog.  Ginny rides well in a car so if you want to go site-seeing she's up for the adventure.  Ginny will need a very specific home with a loving, patient, committed family.  If you want to meet this precious furbaby please contact Town and Country Animal Rescue. The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days. Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family and pets for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day! ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them. Story
Say HI to Zeus! (born Nov 2023).  This beautiful boy is going to become a magnificent companion and best friend to a very special family.  Not only is he stunningly handsome, he is curious and very puppy like.  His smile is absolutely contagious.  Zeus is a little shy when first meeting new people, but he is highly treat/food motivated and comes around quickly.  If you give him a good back scratching, he will be your buddy for life. He enjoys running around the backyard playing with dogs and humans alike and would do best in a home with another playful dog about his size.  Because he loves to run and play, he requires a fenced yard - he is not suitable for apartment life.  Zeus is now mostly potty trained and he doesn't need to be crated if his foster parents are gone.  He's been fine left out of his crate with the resident dog.  If left alone for more than 6 hours, he might have an occasional accident so it would be better for him if there's someone around that can let him out after a few hours.  Keep an eye on your front door when letting visitors in or he's likely to take off on his own out the door! The suggested adoption donation for Zeus is $400 which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Lucille (Luci) is an 8 year old Shiba Inu / Pug mix.  She is very friendly with people and older kids (age 6+).  She doesn't respond well to feeling crowded and doesn't like to have her paws touched.  Younger kids have a harder time understanding that.  She’s housebroken, plays fetch and knows some commands; for example: sit and wait.  Luci likes to be active and is leash trained.  Speaking of being active - you will need to keep an eye on your front door when open because she will take off on her own if you're not watching! Lucille is very food motivated and she is willing to learn new tricks.  Lucille will take treats from you if she's not around other dogs.  She will need her own personal space for meals.  She might be best as the only dog in the home so she can soak up all of your attention!  Her breed mix is higher energy and she loves to go for walks!  She would do great with a family and older kids, especially if you allow kisses now and then.  :) The suggested adoption donation for Stella is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
