Story
My name is Kiki and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m still a puppy – I’ll turn 1 y.o. in May - and I weigh 20 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Grand Island, NE, from a commercial breeder where I was born. I’m still learning about what it’s like for a boy like me to live in a home with humans, but so far, I love it! There’s so much good stuff to eat here and I’m learning all kinds of new things, like walking on leash. Foster mom says I’m a pro! I'm a good boy, and in some ways, I’m a typical Shiba. Loud noises spook me and I’m not much of a snuggler. There are other dogs here and I love playing with them! I also love to play fetch or just prance around the securely fenced yard here at my foster home. I’m so smart that I can even play fetch by myself. I take my ball to the top of the stairs and drop it, then I race downstairs to catch it! I haven’t met any cats or other small pets yet so I don’t know what I’d think of them. I’ve met human kids before and I’m kind of timid and cautious around them. My perfect forever home would have another nice dog to play with and to help continue to teach me all about living in a home with a family. I’d love a securely fenced yard and lots of toys and treats too!! That’s not too much to ask, is it? I am a healthy boy – neutered and vaccinated. Foster mom says I should tell you that I have a weepy eye. It doesn’t bother me, and the vets I’ve seen can’t find anything wrong, so they think it’s just how I am. If you live in the Midwest and want a sweet, smart, adorable and goofy pup like me to be part of your family, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster parents so we can meet. I’d like that very much!

Story
Ginny is a beautiful 50 lb shiba inu mix who originally came to us from the reservation.  She was adopted to a couple who returned her when they had a baby.  It sounded like the new parents and Ginny were all struggling to adapt to a big life change.  Ginny was heartbroken after losing her family but has slowly come out of her shell.  We have witnessed how deeply attached she gets to humans in her life so it's very possible that she could be protective of those relationships and hesitant to share that attention with children.  We've also seen some signs of resource guarding. Therefore, we would want future adopters to be very mindful of this and cautiously introduce her to kids.  She would ideally be fed in her crate or a room away from others.  She is an active girl who loves long walks and would enjoy a fenced yard for outdoor play.  She entertains herself playing with her toys or chewing on bones.  She is highly intelligent and has mastered the commands "sit", "paw" and "down".  She is food motivated and eager to please.   Ginny has a dominant personality so she would likely do best in a home without other dogs or with a more submissive dog.  Ginny rides well in a car so if you want to go site-seeing she's up for the adventure.  After a long day of play, she would love to curl up in your lap and watch movies.  Ginny is an amazing dog and she's looking for a new beginning and deserves a loving, patient, committed family.  If you want to meet this precious furbaby please contact Town and Country Animal Rescue. The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.   ***** If you are interested in any of our animals, please fill out an application on our website www.townandcountryanimalrescue.org   Your application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit.     Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##946070##
