Story
Look at this gorgeous girl. Ginny is a shiba inu mix who came to us from the reservation.  She is the sweetest little thing and probably won't get much bigger than this. Ginny loves running around she would prefer a fenced yard.  She also entertains herself playing with her toys.  Ginny rides well in a car so if you want to go site-seeing she'd love that or she'd love to just sit on your lap and watch movies when she's tired.  If you want to meet this precious furbaby please contact Town and Country Animal Rescue. The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only during the social distancing stage of quarantine.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to email@townandcountryhumanesociety.org. Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Humane Society and our mission. ##946070##

Story
Say HI to Zeus! (B. Nov 2023) This beautiful boy is going to become a magnificent companion and best friend to a very special family. Not only is he stunningly handsome, he is curious and very puppy like. His smile is absolutely contagious. Zeus is very skittish when first meeting new people, but he is highly treat/food motivated and eventually comes around. If you give him a good back scratching, he will be your buddy for life. He enjoys running around the backyard playing with dogs and humans alike, and would do best in a home with another playful dog his size who can show him that the world isn't that scary. Zeus often follows people around the house, looking for a pickup game of ball or rolling around looking for back scratches. He is the perfect size/weight for a male shiba and is a beautiful cream color. Due to his prior apartment life, he does not go down stairs currently. He learned to go upstairs quickly but going down is a bit of a challenge. It should click any day now if the weather cooperates, as he is wicked smart.  Zeus is in need of a family that understands he is still a puppy - when excited he jumps up on people, we are working on this, but he should grow out of it. A household with small kids needs to know that they might trip over him or he might knock them down. Not a deal breaker at all, but a consideration.  Zeus LOVES toys, the heavy chewer kind, and does like to try to get the squeeker out of them if he can.  A fenced in back yard is a must and the fence must be in great condition; NO loose boards or room for him to squeeze under/through the fence. He is so smart, he will figure out weaknesses and will use it to his advantage to roam. He definitely needs some mental stimulation to keep him busy and happy. Due to his playfullness, he may be too much for an older dog, so having a playful younger dog about his size would be the ideal. Zeus is very excited about cats, and would do good with one IF that cat loves to play and be chased. Otherwise, he would terrorize a cat who wants to be left alone. Zeus is very vigilant in paying attention to what is going on in the world, so living in another apartment is NOT in the cards for this sweet baby.  Zeus is learning what is and what is NOT acceptable to chew on, and leaving him free roam while gone is not a good idea, at least until he gets a bit older. A crate or pen would be suggested until then. Additionally, he rarely gets up on the furniture but when he does, it is to be near someone.  It is highly suggested that his future family is familiar with the breed, they are known as the 'cat' of the dogworld and do have some quirks about them. That being said, Zeus is a sweet boy who wants to be loved, with so much love and loyalty to give. The suggested adoption donation for Zeus is $400 which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
