If you are interested in adopting or fostering this dog. Please visit our website - www.cockeradoptions.org   There, you will find the current status of the dog, the links to our adoption and foster applications, and detailed information about our adopting and fostering procedures.   MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Toby, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I am scared because I have not been around a lot of people or lived in a home as a pet. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. I will need time to trust people who want what is best for me and are not going to hurt me. That is something I have not experienced so far in my life. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. Toby is a Shiba Inu. For more information about the breed Shiba Inu, please visit https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/shiba-inu/ to read more about the breed before applying. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Tank is bonded with Rusty, 10yo, weighs 50-60lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  Tank has free roam of the house during the day and sleeps on the couch or on his bed at night.  There are no issues with Tank during car rides.  He does, however, dislike/fear thunder/loud noises. Tank's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  Tank's current guardian is fostering him and Rusty and has been since she rescued them from an untenable living situation in December 2023.  Since their foster provider/guardian already has 2 dogs of her own, she must rehomed them, preferably together. Tank's guardian states the following regarding children:  Tank lives with children, ages birth to 7yo, so his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "Similar to Rusty, he likes to be petted but will typically the just relax/find his own spot". Tank's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Tank lives with dogs, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "While on walks, he's not too interested in other dogs.  If living in a house with other dogs, I would recommend calm dogs.  I have two small/more active dogs, and Tank doesn't like when they play". Tank's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Tank hasn't lived with cats, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats. Tank's guardian describes him as: Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Likes men Likes women Tank's guardian describes his ideal future home:   "Tank gets very excited to go outside, so I would love for him to have a fenced in yard in his forever home.  I would also really like to place Tank and Rusty together.  Tank gets a little anxious/nervous (it took about 3-4 weeks for him to get settled in my home), so a calmer home would be ideal. I would also love to keep in touch/could be a dog-sitter if/when needed." Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Gambrills, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. If you are interested in ADOPTING me, please CLICK HERE:  ADOPT ME 2. When your application is received, a Placement Manager will do a basic screening. Applications will be forwarded to the owner for further screening and continuation in the adoption process.  3. Please give us 48-72 hours for a Placement Manager to respond after you submit your application. If it has been longer than that, please email:  rescuewellrehome@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE: We provide ALL of the information we have on this pet, here on this page, in its entirety from the pet's owner. For more on how our process works, please read our DISCLOSURE.   IMPORTANT: By completing an adoption application, you consent to Rescue Well screening your application, contacting your references, and forwarding your application to the pet owner for further consideration. Story
We have our sweet dog for a little over four years. We don't know her exact age because she is a rescue dog. The vet says she about about 8 years old. We got her from a rescue dog/cat organization. She is very sweet and warm. She is also very smart. We took her in to our household when we were in better health. There are two of us who take responsibilities for the dog. However, two years ago family members were diagnosed with Parkinsons; with Raynaud's disease. The Raynauds disease (fingers hurt and get swollen/achy) has been particularly debilitating since its increasingly hard to walk the dog, especially when it get cold. We really love our dog but its increasingly getting hard to take care of her and give her the full love and attention she deserves. We really want to make sure she finds a home where she is loved and properly taken care of. Best to be in a household with adults or young adults (teenagers) as she seems to get excited around smaller children.

Story
We have had Ivy June from the time she was a puppy and this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. She is perfect 95% of the time. When she was about to turn 2, she became extremely reactive to the other animals in the house. If she is startled or overwhelmed by anything, she will go after our other dogs. We have two cats and a younger dog that are her favorite targets to redirect her aggression to. Therefore I will not let her to go a home that has any other pets. She needs to be the only animal in the house, for everyone's safety. We have tried everything we can to remedy this, and it seems like everything we do only makes it worse. I don't think that she is comfortable in the home with us anymore because of the stress. She has NEVER attacked a person, and has the biggest personality you could ask for. She will cuddle all day long with you if you let her.

Story
Waylon is a puppy through and through! He's playful, rambunctious, curious, and so much fun! He loves other dogs and is great with the small kids in his foster home, whereas he pays little mind to the cat in his foster home. He loves being outside - he could spend hours outside - and going on walks. He's working on leash training and house training, but has the crate mastered and sleeps in his crate all night without a peep. This cute, handsome little guy will be the perfect addition to family - maybe yours?
