Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 32 lbs. & needs to gain a bit more weight Hello, my name is Britta!  I came to the Mostly Mutts family from animal control.  I was very scared and timid when I arrived, but the volunteers took their time with me and allowed me the space I needed to feel safe.  Soon, I went to a great foster home, where I have been loving life and have established trust with my person there. My foster has learned a lot about me and has also worked with a Mostly Mutts trainer and I’ve come a long way.  They will be happy to talk with you and share my successes and what works best for me.   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  Though I did well with the neighbor dog when we met at the chain link fence in my foster home, my foster noticed that I am dog reactive when on my walks. I also met dogs at Mostly Mutts and showed my teeth and growled at them, so I do not want to live with another dog. / I’ve not met cats, but I demonstrate a strong prey drive in my foster’s backyard (squirrels, chipmunks, etc.), so I probably should not live with cats. / I haven’t met kids yet and I am quite skittish around people, in general, so I think older kids such as calm teens may be a fit for me – of course we would want to meet and see how we do together.   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster describes me as ‘one of the sweetest, gentlest dogs you could ever meet’.  However, as mentioned above, I’m very skittish around people.  My foster had a friend come visit, and it took me two weeks to accept affection from them, such as some nice petting. I have become less reactive with people, but I do still bark and growl defensively if someone I don’t know enters the house or yard.  I would likely do best with a dog savvy owner that I can bond with and call ‘my person’ and I am not an apartment/condo type dog.  I love running and jumping in my foster’s yard.  My foster thinks I would be great as an agility dog.  Let’s build a course in our backyard and get going on my training!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My foster is working with a trainer and can verify the fact that I am very smart and that my command training has been easy.  So far, I’ve learned the ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ commands, and I have good door etiquette.  I’m currently  working on the ‘down’ and ‘give paw’ commands. / I do NOT like being in a crate and tore up a sleeping pad when my foster left me in there.  The good news is that I haven’t needed to be crated in my foster home, as I’ve done fine with having the run of the house and haven’t destroyed anything.  At bedtime in my foster home, I usually start out sleeping on the sofa but often end up at the foot of my foster’s bed. / My potty habits have been very good in my foster home. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I am a one-person type of dog, (typical of my breed) so I enjoy being near my person though I am not cuddly (also typical of my breed). I love my outside time in my foster’s large, fenced yard.  I leap around the yard like a gazelle at lightning speed a couple times a day and then I enjoy lounging in the yard while I stay alert to furry intruders.  I’ll keep the yard critter-free for you!  Having a secure fence in my new home is an absolute must for me, as I will want to spend a good bit of time outside with my person – my ‘happy place’.  I like to meander while on my walks and will often stop to stare down squirrels, etc.  My foster has discovered that I will often move forward if you tap me on the shoulder, but if I want to hang out somewhere, you need something to read while waiting on me - lol.  I enjoy Nylabones, other chew bones, and tummy rubs from my chosen person too!   For occasional treats I like doggie chicken jerky and a homemade air fried Liverwurst snack that my foster makes. / I’m not a dog that would be happy spending most of my time indoors, so having the opportunity for frequent ‘yard time’ visits with my person would make my day.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am looking for a great home with a patient and dog-savvy owner as I am not a first-time kind of dog!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 31, 2024, 6:53 am

Story
** Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : Meet Beckma👋 a lovable, gentle boy! Beckma's journey started in South Korea, where he was found on the streets at just two months old in November 2021. He and his brother ended up in a high-risk city shelter, but thankfully, they were rescued just in time. While his brother has since found his forever home, Beckma spent his early years in a private shelter with many other dogs. In December 2024, he finally moved into a foster home—and now, he’s patiently waiting for a family of his own! • Personality: Affectionate, Gentle, Calm Beckma is as sweet as they come! He absolutely loves pets and cuddles and has a calm, laid-back nature. Most of the time, he’s happy just relaxing at home, but he does get bursts of playful energy, especially when toys or a ball are involved. He can be a little cautious with new things but warms up quickly. • Affinity with -Cats: Curious when he sees them on walks. -Dogs: Generally good around other dogs, but he prefers smaller and calmer ones. -Adults/Kids: Great with adults! He might need a little extra time to warm up to men. / Okay around kids on walks. • Shedding: 5-7 (1-10 scale) • Food Allergies: None! He doesn’t overeat. • Walking Manners: Very gentle on a leash with no pulling. He used to stop when scared but has become more confident and enjoys exploring. • Housetrained: Fully housebroken - he does all his business outside. • Bath/Brushing: Tolerates baths and enjoys brushing! • Car rides: Experiences mild carsickness but is improving. • Separation Anxiety: None! He's perfectly fine being left alone. • Bark or Howl: Occasionally barks at unfamiliar things at first but quiets down once he gets used to them. • Likes & Dislikes: He loves squeaky toys and walks! / Not a fan of crowded dog areas.
