Story
This is a COURTESY POST, so this dog is not at the Cornelius Animal Shelter. If you're interested in Keo, please contact his foster parent at 302-438-5766. Meet Keo! This big teddy bear is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. We believe Keo is around 3 or 4 years old. Our son started fostering him when his prior owner left the area and couldn’t take Keo with him, but he wasn’t an appropriate dog for a small apartment. When he first joined us, he was underweight and having gut issues. After much testing we discovered that Keo has a form of Addison's Disease, which is easily treated with a small dose of prednisone. His health is now excellent, and he’s at a good weight and is very happy! We’ve been fostering Keo for several months now, and he gets along very well with our 4 other dogs (both males and females). He loves to play, preferring to chase and be chased rather than retrieving balls or sticks. Keo loves taking walks and he likes to wade in the water down at the lake. He likes a comfy dog bed and will sleep on the floor right next to your bed if you let him. He doesn’t get on the furniture unless invited and is not a “counter surfer”. When Keo is excited, he vocalizes like a husky, but is otherwise a quiet dog – he doesn’t bark at other dogs or passers-by. As a larger black dog he looks imposing, but you can see the sweetness and focus in his beautiful blue eyes. Give Keo a chance, you won’t regret it! He deserves a great home.

Story
Name: Honey Breed: German Shepherd Age: 4 and 1/2 years old Background: Honey was found running around Blythe Landing and was finally caught after nearly 2 weeks of effort. She was adopted shortly after but returned because she did not get along with their cat. Personality: When she first got here, she was timid, scared, and anxious. She is now much more confident and comfortable. Her tail wags when people enter her room and she gets excited when she sees the leash! She is sweet and takes treats gently. She appears house trained and knows "sit". She is calm in her kennel, preferring to nap on a soft bed. It doesn't appear that she knows how to play, but hopefully that will change soon. She has not yet been dog tested, but reacts strongly when dogs bark at her. She is also not cat friendly. We always recommend a meet and greet if you have another dog at home. Ideal Home: She may appreciate a quiet, calm home while she decompresses. It may take some time for her to really act like a dog as she comes out of her shell. She would enjoy a lot of space and activity and would not benefit from apartment living. Final Thoughts: Honey is very smart and well-behaved. She is sweet and enjoys being around people, and she would certainly love someone to keep her active!
