Adoption fee fully sponsored by Jen and Larry BarkleyKid friendly: YesDog friendly: Same-sex selective - only friendly with male dogs Cat friendly: UnknownEnergy level: Medium-high Leash skills: Minimal pulling, great natural engagement with handler! Very bouncy and joyful on walks. Keeps a clean kennel: Yes!Micah is a German Shepherd that came to us as a stray. Although she's a bit smaller than the average sheppy, she's got your typical shepherd personality with lots of silly energy in spades! Vocal, active, intense, velcro, goofy - if you're looking for a dog that exemplifies these traits, then Micah may be your gal! Micah's singular atypical shepherd trait is her lack of interest in toys and balls (at least during her stay here). However, she's so motivated by treats that training her is gratifying and speedy. She knows sit, down, maybe shake/paw and has a solid grasp on nose touch, heel position, focused/fancy heeling, and middle position after just one 15 minute training session! It goes the other way too - she's a clear communicator and great at telling humans what she wants. If you're looking for an active dog that's great at matching your energy, a total cuddlebug, demands to be involved in your day-to-day tasks, has a bouncy and joyful energy, and is a nice medium-to-large size, please let us know you're interested! Micah would love to find her forever home in time to enjoy the upcoming spring and summer instead of spending 23 hours a day trapped listening to the other dogs bark in the four unfriendly walls of her kennel.**Micah can be dog selective - while she's tolerant and neutral with male dogs, she takes a strong instant dislike to females. We are continuing to attempt introductions to a wide range of females in hopes of making a breakthrough or finding her exception, and this trait may not remain once she goes to a home. However, with our meet and greet requirement, applicants' dog/s must meet ours onsite - so consider this a fair warning that if you do have female dogs in the household, the likelihood is strong that Micah is incompatible with you. Same sex aggression is not an uncommon breed trait for shepherds, so this behavior is not totally out of line for a female GSD that is 4 years old.
