Story
Looking for an excellent dog and companion, but also a great potential protection dog or competition dog? Look no further than Mia, our 2-year-old German Shepherd/Malanois mix. This breed makes a loyal and devoted companion. They tend to be a little more level headed like the German Shepherd and are not as overly active as the Malinois and they are easier to live with as a house pet. Mia came to us when her owner decided he was too busy to devote to her the time she deserved. She has completed her basic command and manner training in Camp K-9 at the Kentucky State Reformatory. Her inmate handler describes her as having medium energy. She enjoys walks, playtime with dogs and humans, and playing with her own toys. She is house trained and crate trained. She does alert at strangers sometimes. Mia has a clean bill of health and is up to date on vaccines and is on flea/tick and heart worm prevention. She is microchipped. Mia needs an owner with experience with dogs of her breed or large dog experience. No cats and no children in the home. If you would like to meet Mia, please fill out an application on our website.

Story
Meet BOLT - Paws Behind Bars Trained BOLT is a 5-year-old male, Husky mix who weighs 45 lbs. After a long stint at the shelter (we dont know why), Bolt's freedom ride came the day we chose to pull him and enroll him in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Bolt's temperament is excellent! He's fun and he's active. He envisions himself a "lady's man" and is particularly fond of the girl dogs in the program. He's got that strut! His one male dog friend is our resident mastiff mix. (Mr. Active and Mr. Couch Potato?) As husky owners know, he's a talkative fellow and loves being the center of attention. On a more serious side, Bolt has been completely trained in basic obedience. He is also leash, crate and house trained. Anybody who's ever trained a husky knows they think they are "know it alls" and can be stubborn at times. Bolt is just graduating from the program and is available for adoption now. Bolt's perfect family will be an active one that enjoys running, hiking, going to new places and then downtime for belly rubs. This is information straight from his inmate! Our adoption process begins with submission of OUR application which can be found at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Additional adoption FAQ's can be found there, too.

Story
Clover is a 3 year old, snuggle bug female, terrier mix that weighs 50 lbs. And oh my, those blue eyes! She has recently graduated from our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program so we now know all about her! This program allows the dog to live with their inmate who becomes familiar with every little thing about them. Her most outstanding characteristic is how affectionate she is. Some of our dogs dont like the prison because it's too busy, but not Clover! She loves being the center of attention. She also enjoys a good romp in the play yard. She will readily chase a ball. Whether or not she wants to bring it back depends....... As for the little things? She likes to go to bed at 9:30 and she'll steal your pillow. She has mastered basic obedience and is all set with crate, leash and house training. She is a "no" cat dog and chooses her dog friends carefully (she prefers younger, male dogs) Up close and in person, she is gorgeous. She's got crystal blue eyes to go with that diluted brindle coat. If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. To find this, please visit Clover on our website at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Click on her picture and you'll find the application there. Additional adoption FAQ's can also be found there. Meets will be set with approved applicants. Thank you!
