If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Attention all Shar Pei enthusiasts! We have the perfect dog for you. Allow us to introduce Katy! At 2 years old, she is an intelligent, independent, and loyal companion. Although she may initially feel apprehensive around new people, once she becomes familiar with you, her loyalty and affection shine through, and she enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones. I have had the pleasure of bonding with Katy, and I was informed that she might be a bit nervous during our first encounter. I observed this, but she quickly accepted hot dogs from my hand, and from that moment on, our friendship blossomed. It feels as though we have known each other forever. She eagerly jumps onto the couch with me and showers me with kisses. She absolutely loves chin scratches and belly rubs. Katy delights in playing with squeaky toys and enjoys engaging in playful chases with other dogs in her playgroup, although she also appreciates some quiet time to explore and sniff around. Katy is highly motivated by treats, with her favorites being hot dogs and cheese. Katy was spayed during her stay with Homeward Trails. Story
Meet Buddy, the 7-year-old, 55-pound, bear-coat Chinese Shar Pei. His qualities make him a sweet boy (and possibly the ideal companion you've been looking for!) 🐾 Housebroken and well-mannered (barely barks, and is gentle when getting a treat from you) 🐾 Affectionate and loyal (he loves tummy rubs throughout the day by those he trusts) 🐾 Easygoing (he enjoys quiet mornings and relaxing evenings, sleeps like a log) 🐾 Adventurous (down for car rides/low-impact activities, friendly) * He has been a beloved family member since he was a puppy, but following his owner's recent passing, he requires a new home and family with whom he can grow old. * Buddy has been fostered with another dog for months and after proper introductions and space to adjust they adapted well together. Briefly around a cat but was not given boundaries and became hyper-fixated, so it's unclear how he would adapt to others. ** Requirements: - daily, mental/physical activity - don't leave him alone for long

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Mira is 5-7yo, weighs 45lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Mira can sit and stay and guardian was working on crate training until guardian's disability occurred.  Mira roams around the house close to her guardians and is left alone at home up to 4 hours per day.  At night, Mira sleeps downstairs on the couch or one of the bedrooms.  She dislikes/fears strangers coming to the house, especially women.  Also, Mira loves car rides. Mira's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Mira's guardian is no longer able to care for her needs. Lunge/Attack Incident:  In April 2024, in Pueblo, CO, Mira lunged at the veterinarian; there was no physical contact; animal control was not involved.  Mira's guardian explains:   "No medical attention was required.  Mira can be protective of the house, and the vet was a little too quick to get in her space when she was agitated.  She lunged at the vet, but did not hurt her or anyone else." Mira's guardian offers a brief a medical history: "Entropion of the eye, corrected by surgery but might come back.  Spayed.  Vet suspects past injury to her hips as they seem stiff, but no other sign of injury." Mira's guardian states the following regarding children:  Since Mira hasn't lived with children, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children.  Regarding how Mira responds to children outside the home, the guardian states "She treats them the same way she treats other people; curious and usually affectionate". Mira's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Since Mira has lived with dogs, her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "She tends to get along with dogs very well". Mira's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Mira hasn't lived with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She has shown a great interest in stray cats, but not an aggressive one.  We are unsure how she would act around a cat". Mira's guardian describes her as: Couch potato Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side House-Trained Likes men; also likes women if properly introduced* Separation anxiety (undiagnosed by vet)** * " Mira is more likely to get protective around women, but if introduced properly she's totally fine with just about everyone.  We've found the best solution to be to walk out with Mira and meet a guest in the parking lot before coming inside.  There have been a few instances where she has still gotten protective around women, but more often than not she's totally fine.  If we do this with men she's always been okay with it.  We suspect she was abused by a woman at some point." ** "The separation anxiety has not been formally diagnosed.  She didn't used to behave like this, but after we moved she got very anxious about not being near us.  This usually takes the form of whining and scratching at doors if we are in another room. It should be something that can be trained out of her, but I don't have the ability to do so with my current situation." Mira's guardian describes her ideal future home: "A house with a fenced in yard would be ideal.  She loves to be outside and sun herself but she also tends to bolt if she doesn't have a fence.  A family that has some experience training dogs would be ideal, as they can help her be less anxious about people visiting or separation." Story
Hi I’m Arnold and I’m living with my foster mom and my two brothers Abner and Arthur. We were rescued from a shelter in SW Virginia on Saturday 1/25/2025. Shelter life isn’t easy and didn’t teach us good manners but we have come a long way in just 24 hours. We hadn’t ever used stairs but we had to learn to use them to go potty outside. Our foster mom carried us a few times but finally I got brave and got up the courage! I did great and my brothers were so surprised at how easy it looked that they got brave too! Our foster mom has to go downstairs first and then we get brave and hurry to meet her. Now we want to go outside and up and down the stairs all the time and are doing really great with accidents in the house. We will keep working on that. I would just like to stretch out and sleep on a soft bed and I’m doing lots of that. My foster mom says I have the sweetest demeanor, I’m confident and calm which helps us all to stay calm. We didn’t get lots of kisses, pets and snuggles in the shelter so we are making up for lost time. We are still trying to get settled in and all we want to do right now is to rest, snuggle and relax on the soft couch. Our foster mom will get better pictures and update our profiles soon. She tells us that our forever home is out there waiting for us and we can’t wait to meet you. We are about 13 weeks old and ready to be adopted on Saturday Feb 8 when we have our final shots. If you want more info or want to meet us you can get in touch with Fancy Cats to make that happen.  Adoption fee: $525, includes 1st DHPP, deworming, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. I growl to keep my brothers away when I’m eating but my foster mom will keep working with me on that to know that I will always have food. I also growled at her the first time i met her but now I hog her lap and try to get all the pets. It’s just my way to show I’m scared but as soon as I knew I was safe I haven’t growled since. We didn’t get lots of kisses, pets and snuggles in the shelter so we are all making up for lost time. Story
Meet Austin! Austin is an adorable Labrador Retriever and Boxer mix, born around October 2024. He may have been the smallest of his five siblings, but he certainly has a big personality! Austin is a calm and affectionate pup who loves being a homebody. He enjoys cuddling up and taking long naps on the couch, making him the perfect companion for cozy evenings at home. Austin is a well-behaved boy who sleeps peacefully in his kennel at night without making a fuss. He is still working on his potty training and improving every day! Especially if there are treats involved. While Austin is playful and curious about the world around him, he does have a little bit of anxiety when it comes to going outside. Having spent the first few weeks of his life in a shelter, he's still adjusting to outdoor environments but is making great progress and becoming more comfortable and confident each day. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who’s ready to learn and grow, Austin would love to meet you and find his foever home.     Adoption fee: $525, includes 1st DHPP, deworming, flea preventative, microchip   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have.
