Story
Carson found himself as a stray at a high kill shelter in rural New Mexico but with the help of amazing shelter volunteers and the Pei People network he was saved and what a great save! He is dog friendly and seeks out people. He loved his first car ride with his foster moms. After a nice nap in the back seat he was ready to jump up in the front and start doing some bonding. He is house trained and walked well on a leash when he left the shelter Carson is house trained and picked up using the dog literally within minutes of walking into his foster home.  He is is crate trained but will bark for a minute to just let you know he doesn't love his crate but then settles down for a nap. This boy is crazy affectionate and will instantly give kisses to complete strangers. He does like to jump up and give hugs so we are working on that as not everyone wants to be hugged by a very kissy boy. Carson is probably not all shar pei as his ears are a bit too big but he definitely has the shar pei smooshy face. The big bonus is Carson has zero shar pei ear issues which most shar pei owners know what a pain in the butt those ears can be! The shelter estimated his age to be 10 months but we are guessing closer to 6 months. This guy is just one big goofy puppy. He weighs around 35lbs currently. He is fostering in Tucson AZMarch 6, 2025, 5:51 pm

Story
Rusty is a 5-year-old neutered male who came to us as an owner surrender, Rusty was loved very much by his former family and had a wonderful life with them prior to coming to Peipeople. Rusty is standoffish with new people but with a few treats and a couple days he will open up quickly. He would benefit from socialization and basic obedience to build confidence and improve his leash skills as he was sheltered from the world previously. We have discovered he loves walks and keeps his nose plastered to the ground as he walks taking in all the smells. He takes home security seriously and will bark to alert you of any possible intruders. However past that it is up to you to do the true protection as he will bark then run away to avoid any visitors. He does warm up to women faster than men and after a few weeks with his foster family he has really bonded with both his foster mom and dad. He is fostered with 3 other dogs and is doing great! He is starting to learn how to play with other dogs and loves to run around the yard to get his zoomies out!  He is housebroken and figured out how to go out the dog door quickly. When Rusty’s foster family must go out, they leave him loose in the house with the front curtains open so he can see the world and he spend hours looking out at his kingdom. We would love to find a home who will give Rusty the time to settle in and become the best friend we see!  He seems interested in children and seems like he would do well with older kids, we would recommend 8+ due to his larger size and energy level. He is currently fostered in Fort Collins, CO   March 1, 2025, 2:42 pm

Hi, I’m Manchas! I’m a shy and gentle guy who loves nothing more than some tasty treats (I’m a bit of a treat connoisseur)! I walk beautifully on a leash and never pull — I prefer to stay by your side. I’m affectionate and will stick close to my handler, always looking for comfort in your presence. While I may be a bit shy at first, I’m eager to explore the world with a little help and patience. With your love and guidance, I’ll blossom into the loyal, loving companion you’ve been waiting for!

Story
Hi there! This is Cooper. He's between five and six years old. My mom got him around five years ago. She was diagnosed with dementia three years ago and isn't capable of caring for him. Caregivers help take care of him. Cooper is a patient dog. He's adapted to mom's schedule as she transitioned from working full-time to retirement. When accepting treats, he takes them from your hand gently. He likes going for walks and playing more than he likes treats. It's very likely that Cooper had unpleasant experiences with men early in life, as he's generally more comfortable around women. Because mom didn't engage with him much when she got him, Cooper craves attention, physical touch, and play. It'd be ideal if a family with children could adopt him so he can get the attention he needs. As indicated in the key facts, he hasn't been trained and doesn't always respond to his name. Much to our surprise, he's never relieved himself indoors during the time he's lived with mom.

Whiskey is very sweet and loves to cuddle. He is potty trained. He’s good and playful with other dogs. Not great with cats, I don’t think he’s had much experience with them. He doesn’t want to hurt them but is very curious and wants to chase. He uses a crate when I am not home and sleeps in bed at night. He knows sit and listens well.. Will need a secure fence! Would thrive in an active family that can take him on regular walks & get him the exercise he needs.

Story
Meet Cinnamon Roll! This pretty girl is nothing but attitude! She came to us needing Entropion Surgery which she has received. She has had her sutures removed and she is healing wonderfully. She is EXTREMELY people selective, so a meet and greet with everyone in home is required. She does NOT do well with other dogs or pets in the home. She would need to be an only animal. When she is comfortable with her people and environment, she loves to cuddle and get pets, she loves walks and loves to eat!You can meet Cinnamon Roll at our main ranch location, or email dogswmr@gmail.com
