Story
George's Story George is a 2 year old, 60 pound Boxer mix. He was rescued from an owner who kept him chained to a dog house and fed him only occasionally. The neighbor was keeping him alive and walking him when she could. In spite of this he was still suffering from malnutrition when he came to Save-A-Life. He is now neutered, vaccinated, has been treated for heartworm infestation and is healthy and very happy to be in rescue. This is a charming guy who gives sloppy kisses and has a great time at PetsMart on Saturdays. He is trained to sleep in a crate at night, does well walking on a leash and enjoys playing with the other large dogs. He and Michael, the Weimaraner play tag and wrestle whenever they are outside together. George needs a fenced yard to get sufficient exercise. He does well with children and adults. To make an appointment to meet this gentle giant, go to the savealifepets.org site and fill out a pre-adoption application and forward it to holly.rolfes@era.com.

Story
Meet Jacoby – The Gentle Goober with a Heart of Gold Jacoby is the kind of dog that makes people ask, "How has he not been adopted yet?" At around 2.5 to 3 years old, this lovable, slightly goofy soul is ready to steal your heart with his sweet crooked jaw and even sweeter personality. He’s a big ol’ ham — a medium-energy boy who lives for belly rubs in the sun and sand. Jacoby doesn’t just like attention; he savors it. Plop down next to him, and he’ll happily roll over with a smile on his face and his heart wide open. He adores his people and wants nothing more than to be near his human, soaking in the love and offering endless affection in return. Jacoby is a true gentleman. He takes treats with the gentleness of a lamb, listens to commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and “stay,” and responds lovingly to his foster mom’s nicknames — “Cheese,” “Cheesecake,” or just “Goodest Boy.” Because that’s what he is. He’s also hilariously obsessed with his squeaky toys and stuffies — not to destroy, but to treasure. He proudly carries them around and even shares them with his doggy friends, especially once he’s warmed up. And oh, does Jacoby love his friends! He’s happy playing chase with pups of all shapes and sizes, from tiny 6-pounders to sturdy 70-pounders. The ladies hold a special place in his heart — he’s a total gentleman with the gals, often found lounging under the azalea bushes with his favorite girlfriend by his side. Jacoby thrives on routine and loves mealtime like it’s a sacred ritual. Offer him a frozen blueberry and you’ll see true joy. Whether it’s fruits, veggies, or the sound of dinner being prepared, Jacoby is all in. And while he sometimes forgets just how big he is, his smarts and sweetness shine through every moment. He’s goofy, affectionate, and wonderfully loyal. He gives hugs and kisses freely — all he asks for in return is someone to love him as much as he’ll love you. His foster mom says he’s here to fill a hole in someone’s heart — maybe it’s yours. Jacoby’s not just looking for a home. He’s looking for his person. And once he finds them, there’s no limit to the joy, laughs, and love he’ll bring.
