Story
Meet Randy, a 5-year-old male Rottweiler/Pitbull mix. Randy came in to us pretty under weight, but 15 pounds later he is looking much better. He has played in the play yard with other dogs and got along great with another resident named Kenny. He is a friendly boy who plays fetch and is working on basic commands. Despite his size Randy walks pretty good on his leash and doesn’t yank you around, at 75 pound he could throw his weight around if he wanted to. He tends to bond strong and is a protective breed so please do your research prior to applying to adopt this big sweetheart. Randy enjoys playing fetch and returns the ball quite frequently like the good boy that he is. He has met several dogs while with us and has done very well. One dog even escaped and found herself in his run and he was totally chill with it! Randy is looking for a home that has lots of love and food! This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Outlaw, a 3-year-old male Rottie/Pitbull mix.Outlaw is an impressive 85 pounds. He has an intimidating look but is kinda of just one massive goober. Outlaw was brought to YHS after his owner was taken into custody, sadly no one has come for him so YHS now needs to find him a home that can make him a valued member of their family. Outlaw would do best in a home with no cats but has met other dogs and done well. He just wants to play with them and doesn’t always want to take no for an answer, but he was good when told off by the other dog. He loves to play tug-of-war with toys and will even play tug with other dogs. Outlaw is just a big boy who needs someone who will remind him of his size and manners. Once he knows the rules he tries his best to follow them, walking well on a leash (once he is reminded it isn’t a tug of war rope) and doing both “sit” and “lay down” for treats. Outlaw is very food motivated and we always recommend feeding dogs separately from other animals in the house so they don’t feel someone is going to steal their food. This big ole’ goofball is just looking for someone who wants a large love bug that doesn’t know what “personal space” means. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Willie, a 3-year-male Rottweiler/Shepherd mix.Willie is a tall 82 pound boy. He loves to get out into the play yard and lope around. True to his breeds, Willie tends to be vocal which can intimidate some people. Sadly he doesn`t seem to understand why everyone doesn`t like the way he say `Hey.` Hey has met several dogs while with us and has done well, even playing with a few of them. He can come on a bit strong at first but really is just a giant goober. Willie is always up for a walk in the park and chasing some ball. He would love a forever home will a nice fenced in yard that he can call his own. Are you looking for a goober with floppy ears to call your own? Story
Hickory is a male German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix November 1, 2021. This handsome boy just graduated from his Basic 1 Dog Training. Hickory lives with and gets along well with other dogs - large and small- as well as dog savvy cats. One of his favorite past times is playing and romping with other dogs of a similar size. He is both potty and crate trained. Hickory knows numerous basic commands including sit, down, stay, off, leave it and wait. Some of these he’s still working on perfecting, but he’s making great strides and when a high value treat is at stake, he usually rises to the occasion! Hickory has been known to chew on something he shouldn’t but with redirection and the command “leave it” he's learning quickly what is off limits. Hickory gets excited and can be a bit vocal in public. He will make a great companion to some person or family. His ideal home would be one where his people are not gone for long periods of time during the day, and one where he has at least one other canine companion. A secure 6 foot fence and children over 5 is required. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com
