Story
Meet Buxton! This stunning boy is a courtesy post and is not a Hail Mary Resuce dog. Please share his post so we can hopefully help find him an ideal home. Buxton is in Louisa, Virginia and is 82 lbs and turned 3 yrs old in September of 2024. He is fully vetted and has been well cared for by his owners who have had him since 8 weeks old. While they have prior Rottie and Dobie experience Buxton has been a challenge from the get go and sadly due the a daughters medical issues the time to keep Buxton happy and thriving doesn’t exist anymore. He knows his basics, (will post videos in comments) he is housebroken, crates quietly, loves truck rides and enjoys trips to Tractor Supply for cookies. He does live in a home with other dogs and some cats, however he is very demanding of being his mom’s favorite and can be aggressive towards the other dogs and if he gets bored enjoys irritating the cats. He has seen livestock from the fence and has been calm but hasn’t been with any animals. A home with time and knowledge to provide a structured environment for him will be ideal. He was doing better when his family had more time to give him attention. He is social when out of his house but becomes territorial at home and will need to be worked with to be polite when strangers come to visit. I'll perform all sorts of acrobats, even jumping in the air and twisting in every direction to catch a ball! I'm even learning to bring the balls back! I love car (or truck) rides. And I never met a trail that I did not want to explore. I meet everyone at my kennel with either a toy in my mouth or my food bowl. I am so happy to show them off to everyone. I have a full body wiggle when my favorite people are coming to get me out for a walk. I like other dogs with proper introductions. When I find a dog I like, I'll run & play until we're both dizzy with exhaustion. I'm a true "ladies man and would thrive in a home with another delightful female companion. I can be a bit shy at first, but then turn on that southern charm. I need an experienced owner and I need to be introduced to strangers slowly. But once I trust, I will enjoy cuddling in your lap. If you are willing and able to put the time into training me I will be sure to do my best to learn. Like most Rotties, I form strong bonds with those I love. I'm what they call a "diamond-in-the-ruff who will make a great life-long companion. I have been waiting a long time for my forever home. Loving, loyal, full of life. Come meet me!

I wish I could share what my previous life was like, but my friends at FOHA think it wasn’t the best. You see, I was used to make puppies and, when I was no longer needed, I was cast aside. I’m a little slow to warm up to new people, but I’m starting to realize that everyone here at FOHA is kind and wants the best for me. Even so, being in the shelter can be scary, and what I really long for is a home of my own—a place where I’ll feel safe, loved, and wanted. If you have a quiet space and a patient heart, I’d love the chance to meet you. Maybe you’ll be the one to give me the happy ending I deserve. 🐾

Barkley is a sweet 5 yr old rottie mix. She has been in rescue over 3 years. She needs to find her forever home. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats or small dogs. She has done absolutely fine with older children. She has not been exposed to smaller kids other than walking through the store and did fine. She has been completely vetted and is house and crate trained. She loves her belly rubs and will often wait for you to give her one before coming inside. She has no issues

This boy is the last of the litter still looking for a home. He is very friendly, loves to play and would love an active family. He gets along with other dogs and doesn't have to be the alpha. He will need all the puppy training as he's never been inside of a house. He is a quick learner and is learning manners when greeting people (he's a bit jumpy). He is a fun boy who just wants to have a good time. He is located in Tennessee but can be transported through Rescue Riders Pet Transport.
