Story
If you're the kind of person who loves a bear hug, sees treasures in other people's trash and who wakes up ready for adventure, then I might just be your soulmate! My name is Kobe, and I'm a mystery mix 6-year-old in need of a like-minded human. Listen, I LOVE life! I'm an active guy who just can't wait to get out and experience everything from breakfast to wrestling my dog buddies to walks and hikes. My favorite is being a 70-pound lap dog because as much as I love exploring the world, I REALLY love showering humans with affection.I would be willing to trade the right humans unlimited loyalty and love in exchange for a home to call my own. I am house trained and I sleep in a crate at night, and with proper introductions, I get along great with other pups. But I admit I do love to get into trash cans and eat whatever food humans leave laying around. I also can't live with cats and I could use some help perfecting my leash skills. I might be too much for small children because I am an enthusiastic dude who, as I've said, loves to snuggle - or is it huggle? I just love HUMANS!Here's the deal - you will not meet a more joyful middle-aged mutt than me. So if you're active and looking for happiness in pup form, let's make each other's dreams come true!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Hunter, it was given to me by an uncle who currently has Hunter's parents a husky named Daysi and the rotwille named Ruchy. Hunter has been with me for 3 years where we have had fun and explored many places. Although Hunter did not receive training, he behaves very well and has lived with children from 1 to 19 years old and has never been bitten. The reason why Hunter needs a new house is that his sister, who takes care of him, is going to university and by regulation she cannot take him. Furthermore, he will be alone because his family is busy and we don't want him to stay locked up all day. With no one to play with

Good news, I’m already housetrained and ready for my forever home! I love my other puppy friends but I’m not too sure about the kitty cats, they are a bit scary! Story
Penny is the epitome of an adventure buddy meets family girl. Penny Piper is a fun-loving girl with a gentle love of kids and people and a big playful love for toys and water. At home, she’s a sweet and affectionate companion who will happily sit in front of you for cuddles or cozy up on the couch when invited. Out in the yard or on an adventure, Penny’s playful spirit shines, especially when there is a toy or water involved—she’s is too cute and I can only imagine the cuteness overload if they were combined. Take a look at her Get-to- know Penny video here then come back to read more! https://youtu.be/ezr3U40Rbp4 Penny has been so fortunate to wait out her days before adoption in a dedicated and bustling foster home complete with a 5 and 2 year old, regular guests, other dogs and a cat. Her foster family has shared that she is incredibly mindful and gentle with the kids and is both crate and house trained. She welcomes guest into the home with a warn and friendly energy. Penny also lives with a cat but the cat is very good at hiding from the dog so she has had only a few interactions. When she met our house cat, a very dog-savvy stand-your-ground type of orange kitty, she showed a keen interest and we suspect, would likely try to playfully chase a cat in the home. That would likely fade but she would do best in a home where proper introductions can be made. Another dog would also help keep her playful love of chase satisfied and would help keep her focus off the feline-friend. Penny’s social butterfly personality is not only with people, she absolutely adores other dogs and is quick to show her playful side. Penny thrives in the company of a moderately playful dog who can match her enthusiasm for digging in the pool and a good game of chase. Penny is all-in for the fun! She’s a fairly active pup at an est. 1 year old, and she would thrive with an equally active human. If you’re into hikes, waterfront adventures, or backyard games, Penny is your girl! At 52 lbs fully grown, she is a perfect mid-size girl who can hop right int the car at the call of an adventure. She has basic leash skills and is continuing to work on them while she waits for her forever family. Once she arrives home, a little practice will be great for you and her to connect. She is guaranteed to be a great walking and hiking buddy. Penny would do best in a home with a yard where she can stretch her legs and let off steam, kids are welcome and even better if they want a dog they can play with. We can see Penny becoming a beloved member of a family and building beautiful memories together.i Penny is ready to fill your home with joy and laughter. Story
Meet Robert, the calm and easygoing dog who’s ready to find his forever home! At 6 years old, Robert may be a grown-up, but you’d never know it from his adorable puppy face—he never quite grew out of that youthful charm. He’s the perfect mix of laid-back and friendly, making him an ideal companion for anyone looking for a chill buddy to share life with. Robert is a breeze to walk on a leash, needing only slight corrections when passing other dogs. He’s friendly and always eager to greet new people, though he’s more of a relaxed companion who values his space. While Robert isn’t overly affectionate, he’s loyal and will be there when you need a quiet, comforting presence. He’d thrive in a calm family home, especially one with older kids who respect his need for personal space. Robert gets along well with female dogs, whether they’re dominant or laid-back, and would do best with a low-energy buddy who can match his mellow vibe. Robert isn’t a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is a must. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, Robert will adapt beautifully. He’s perfect for someone who wants a companion that’s content to hang out, enjoy some quiet time, and occasionally give you that adorable puppy-eyed look that will melt your heart. Give Robert the chance to show you how wonderful a loyal, easygoing friend can be! Story
This ridiculously adorable little bundle of snuggles and sunshine is named Kanan! Kanan has a squishy little ittie bittie rottie face, the most infectiously happy personality, and uber soft fur. We think Kanan is a Rottweiler, Pug mix, with hints of Shar-Pei, Papillon or Gremlin mixed in. He is a silly little rescue mutt- these are just our best guesses. Kanan is estimated to be around 9 months old right now and currently weighs in at 30 pounds. Fall in love with Kanan here: https://youtu.be/EY6WkXRee_M?si=bm-G865x0tbCVP78 Kanan is super affectionate and friendly. He’s still working on his leash manners, but he’s already great in the car, we think he would make an awesome little adventure buddy. Take this little guy out shopping, dining or exploring and watch him steal hearts and gain adoring fans. Kanan has been cat tested here at the rescue, and we believe him to be cat-tolerant. He is dog-friendly as well and loves to romp and play with other dogs! Kanan would be a great fit in just about any animal lover’s home. Kanan is such a talented little cutie. He loves treats, and he knows a few basic commands already. He’s a gentle treat taker, so any further training will be enjoyable and rewarding with him. He has an adorable habit of standing up on his back legs, we think that with a little work he may be able to learn to do this on command! Kanan is a bundle of puppy energy, but he still knows when to chill. This little guy currently resides in a foster home, and he knows all about the art of a couch snuggle. Kanan’s ideal home has at least one adoring dog-parent that will love that squishy little face of his. He could live with other dogs, dog-savvy cats, and while we haven’t seen him with kids yet, we do think that he would make a great family dog. Kanan is small and sweet enough to thrive in an apartment, he’s a go-with-the-flow kind of guy that could thrive in any type of home. We are willing to test Kanan with anything you may need to ensure that he is a perfect fit for your family, home and life. We can make most anything happen. Just let us know! Story
Mars- fourth planet? Candy bar? Even better… a certified good boy who is reddish like the planet and sweet like the candy bar. This boy is so sweet with a playful side and a loving heart. He is so fortunate to be fostered in a loving home which is not only wonderful for him but gives us a front-row seat to his personality. Being in a home has allowed us to know he is house trained, is great at apartment life (but would love a yard if were talking forever) is smart and treat motivated. See more here then come back to read more. https://youtu.be/0iik1GRJTTI Estimated to be just over a year old, Mars is prime age for building all of his best boy skills and he is off to a great start. He has great basic leash skills and enjoys walks with his foster mom and foster doggie sibling, a large German shepherd. Mars spends time in-between naps and walks playing with his doggie sibling. He is a great playmate and we saw that when we introduced him to a handful of new dogs. With each dog he was polite and playful without being pushy. He truly lights up when he is meeting a new dog and is a great playmate. He would love a home with a playful, going dog to play chase and bounce around with. With people Mars takes it slow, he is friendly and warm but isn’t the dog that is going go 90% to meet you and next thing you know be kissing you. He is more than happy to get to know you before making the first move and going in for the kiss. This may translate into him needing a little time to settle in once he arrives home. Overall a calm home would suit him best. No party boy here despite his love of a good time. Mars is what we would call- cat curious. When he met our house cat he was polite but curious and his interest was definitely peaked. He may be the type to start a game of chase in order to meet the cat but with boundaries and slow-introductions we believe he would learn that they do not enjoy playing chase. A dog-savvy cat that will give him a swat if necessary would be clearly received by him. If you have a feline friend and are interested in Mars we are more than happy to reintroduce him to a cat(s) to get a better idea. Mars could easily be a family man, he has been introduced to kids and the natural fit has been with the older ones who enjoy his company without expectation. He is patient but enjoys his space and we all know the little are still learning about space. This boy strikes a great balance between playtime and relaxation. He enjoys running around having fun but knows how to take it easy too, the best type. Mars is full of potential and ready to become the loyal, loving companion you’ve been searching for. With time, care, and the right environment, he’ll blossom into a confident and affectionate member of your family. Eyes set on Mars? Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
Hi there, future best friend! I'm Belle, a stunning 3.5-year-old female Boxer mix with a heart full of love. I’m an affectionate girl who adores cuddling, playing with toys, and spending quality time with my humans. I’m fully house- and crate-trained, so I’m ready to fit right into my forever home.I’m a fan of fetch, going on walks, and exploring fun adventures with my people. While I can be a little shy when meeting new friends, I’m working on building my confidence and know my new family will help me feel safe and secure in new situations. I dream of a home where I can be the center of attention—I’d love an adult-only family where I can be the one-and-only furry companion. A securely fenced yard would be a dream come true because I love to explore and satisfy my curious nature. I met with a wonderful trainer who helped me learn new skills, and they say I’m incredibly smart and eager to please! I already know several commands and am thriving with positive-reinforcement training. I’ve even started muzzle training to help me stay calm and focused when things feel a little overwhelming—I'm working hard to be the best version of myself.I have so much love to give and can’t wait to find a family that will help me shine. With your support, I know I’ll make the sweetest, most loyal companion. Let’s start this amazing journey together—adopt me, and let’s make memories that last a lifetime!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Belle's adoption fee is $200. Story
Hi there! I'm Buddy!I'm a very good, very handsome boy. I love going for walks/runs/hikes/Play with toys, I thoroughly enjoy being with my person 24/7, I also get along very well with other dogs (my foster home had another Doberman) I love being pet, and sitting next to you on the couch or the bed. I am house trained, and know basic commands. I am also very treat motivated. Buddy's ideal home would be with a Doberman savvy owner, who is VERY active, someone who is home a lot, and preferably a home with another dog. Buddy is not crate trained, he does need an owner who can keep him mentally busy/exercised constantly, and will play with him for hours. Buddy does have some mild anxiety and will need a patient owner that can work on this. Buddy is UTD on all vaccines (including Leptospirosis /CIV) Heartworm negative and has been on a current monthly heartworm prevention. Buddy recently had a fracture repair done by a CAWS Veterinary Orthopedist and has just been cleared for adoption. To meet me fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application.
