Story
Meet Jack!! This gentle giant, like the most gentle ever, was rescued from the euthanasia list at BARC. He's approximately 5 years old and best guess is a Rottie/Lab mix? Jack currently weighs about 110lbs, but ideally would be closer to 100. No one can deny him treats when he gives you his signature cute look. We knew when we rescued Jack that he was heartworm positive and needed hip surgery (FHO). However, after Jack had a few "fainting episodes," we knew there was something else going on. He saw the Cardiologist and sadly has a condition called Reverse PDA. His life expectancy is only 5-7 years and he's already five. He did start taking Sildenafil, which seems to be helping and he has not had any episodes since. However, his condition is terminal. So now, Jack is looking for a family to love him, to let him sleep on the couch, to give him his belly rubs, and take him on short walks. We keep his exercise to a minimum. You can't tell Jack is sick, he's a happy and super goofy boy, He's a severe leaner, and will push his 110lb body into you and flop right to the floor. He charms EVERYONE he meets, his personality is special and so loving, he's done well with kids, he's the total package. If you would like to learn more about Jack, info@theunderdogconnection.org **Jack has been treated for heartworm disease**

Story
Only dog status! Hello, my name is Ellie Benelli! If you are looking to have only 1 pet in your life, I am your girl. I am overall a really sweet girl, and haven’t had any issues when it comes to meeting new people. I would do best in a home with much older children or adults only. I am a little more of a higher energy pup, however I enjoy hanging out in my kennel when needed. I am completely crate and house trained! I do have my indestructible crate that will come with me, as I am not a fan of loud noises. Thunder, gun shots, fireworks etc really scare me and I tend to break out of normal crates to try and seek safety. I love being outside! I enjoy running, playing, chasing squirrels and I LOVE the water! I will also play fetch with you for hours if I could! I would make the ideal travel buddy, as I really enjoy car rides and going on new adventures! I do require a secure, fully fenced in yard. My adoption fee is $200 locally in Houston, TX and $350 out of state (includes travel fee and health certificate). I am spayed, microchipped and up to date on all my shots. Fill out an app at: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=SQYPSGVQNovember 5, 2024, 9:38 pm

Story
This handsome fellow is called Baldwin. He’s very kind and gentle with people. He’s also sweet and friendly. He loves attention and being pet. He comes across as very serene and has a lower energy level. He’s a great leash walker and loves to go on strolls. He’s smart too! He came in having already mastered sitting on command. He’s treat motivated, so he’s sure to pick up other tricks quickly! He always takes his treats gently from your hand too. He gets along well with other dogs in shelter playgroups.

Story
Alfie is the golden boy. He’s super sweet and friendly, and at 10YO he deserves somewhere to retire and relax in peace and comfort. He was found as a stray on 4/23 not looking his best. He was missing a lot of fur – particularly along his rump and tail. Poor Alfie was covered in fleas, and was limping on his right rear leg. He also has severe periodontal disease, and his ears had so much wax build up in them that they hurt to be touched. With basic medical care and a little TLC he’ll be looking spiffy in no time! He may be a senior dog, but he’s young at heart when the treats come out! He LOVES his snacks and will jump in excitement for them. His typically calm and relaxed energy level gets kicked up a few notches. He’s mostly happy to entertain himself, but he does love a good petting session!

Story
Onyx is a 2 year old Rottie pup who is a really sweet but active boy. Onyx still has a lot of puppy energy, so his parents need to be strong as he is a big boy. He is very affectionate and loving. When his foster mom is standing next to him outside and tells him to sit, he immediately does so and then he'll offer his paw if she says "shake". Then if she asks "pets?", he puts his head up against her leg and he gets pets. By then he usually melts to the ground and ends up upside down begging for belly rubs. He is very smart and sensitive. Positive reinforcement in the form of treats and verbal praise is highly effective to teach him replacement behaviors. A home with a fully fenced yard would be ideal for him, as well as a family who can dedicate time for training, exploring and movement! Onyx came from a high kill shelter where he was surrendered by his previous owner. He was very scared when we first got him, but with decompression, he has now settled down. He definitely needs a parent that has the time to work with him and be the alpha. Onyx is currently about 80 lb and fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is heartworm negative, and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. He lives with 10 foster doggie siblings, and does well with them. He has not lived with kids in our care, so we do not know how he is going to be. We do not allow rotties to go to homes with children. Sweet Onyx is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, and even Canada for the right home. Rottweiler experience is mandatory to adopt our breed specific pups. To meet this gorgeous pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.

Story
Suki is a 3 year old Rottie mix girl who is a dream. Suki was found as a stray, living in an apartment complex, and eating from a supermarket next door. Our team member saw her and had to trap her as she was too intelligent and would not come to humans on her own. She was so easy to trap, that it felt as if she wanted to be rescued. Suki lives with her foster parents' Belgian malinois Emma (you can see the video of them at the beach) and loves to follow her around. They live very close to the beach and are there every morning. Her foster mom says she seems to be fascinated with birds - whether because she wants to eat them or just simply enjoys their song is yet to be determined Suki is extraordinarily smart and very affectionate and loving. When her foster parents leave for work, she takes one of their shoes to where she is laying down - she doesn’t chew it up, just puts it next to her and only one, not both. She is not a fan of crate but will comply if needed. A home with a fully fenced yard would be mandatory for her, as well as a family who can dedicate time, patience and love. Suki is currently about 86 lb and fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She is kept on heartworm and flea preventative. She is great with dogs but has not lived with kids or cats in our care, so we do not know how she is going to be around children or cats. Sweet Suki is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, and even Canada for the right home. Rottweiler experience is mandatory to adopt our breed specific pups.
