Just like the classic debate- Left Twix versus Right Twix... both sides together ARE THE BEST!!! I am the same way, I am sweet on one side and salty on the other- together we are perfect! I have a tale to tell, however, none of it matters anymore because I am here right now to tell you- the best is yet to come! I am a big love bug, and although I can be nervous at first- I settle in quickly to be just a big couch potato! I am good with other dogs and would love to have a friend for life in my forever home. I am good with calm older dogs, not much for puppy energy all.the.time... :) I love kids, and would be great with school aged/teenagers (and not many others LIKE teenagers so I can be their buddy :) and would be good in a calmer/quieter home. I want so much to please my family and will look to you for love and attention. I also need a strong leadership family- I have tried to take over control in my first adoptive home and it was not appreciated. SO, you need to be my boss, it's not hard- just let me know you are someone I can trust to keep me safe and take EXCELLENT care of me- with love and more love and I will LET you be in control. Well, HOWDY!!! I still can't believe i am IN TEXAS!! My story may be a little convoluted but suffice it to say... the OK Corral has nothing on me! I was not fighting the outlaws.. i was not fighting at all! I was just trying to figure out why I was saved and in a wonderful rescuers home.... then... back into a high kill shelter?? UNTIL, I was saved by ANOTHER rescuer and was transported from Louisiana to TEXAS and here I am! I LOVE everyone, I want a home that will walk me a couple of times a day and then chill out with me on their couch :) I don't have a whole bunch of energy but that is PERFECT for a lower energy home. I came to the rescue with heart worms but am going to complete my treatment by Christmas!! What a gift that will be! I am now looking for my family, someone who will love me for who I am.. a little low rider, kinda chunky but as loving as the day is long! ADOPT ME!!! I love all humans and almost all dogs, I don't like dogs who bark in my face, I will hide and avoid, but I do love dogs who are calm or understand other dogs. I would love a home where we can go on adventurers, where I can have cool toys and be a apart of the family. I know tons of commands, I am eager to learn, I love getting cuddles and affection. The shelter team wants you to understand they love me very much, they think I am the best dog and I was a wonderful mom, who raised 5 strong, independent confident puppies, just like me!! Honey is a great dog, she loves all people. She does well around other dogs and cats. Ideally she would need a new home with a fenced yard. Honey is very low key, and rarely barks. A home with kids and pets would be ok. There is no specialized care. The main reason we need to rehome her is my schedule. She is not house trained. We got her from SafeHaven Humane Society, Honey is 10 years old.

MEET RED! Red is a 1-1/2-year old loving and highly intelligent dog in need of a forever home! He is currently in a foster home. Red is great mix of smart and loyal breeds. He is part German Shepherd and Rottweiler, with a few other breeds like Border Collie and Australian Shepherd thrown in. (We did a DNA test - we're happy to share it!). Red is such a great dog in many ways: He is dog friendly, kid friendly and active. He is eager to learn, and will be excited to continue his training with a human companion. (He currently went through obedience training!). He does well off leash on walks in the country, and has wonderful recall. Once he knows you, he does not run off. He is constantly looking for fun things to chase but will look to you for permission and “leave it” when told. Red is also praise motivated and a fast learner. He gets along well with other dogs (loves dog parks!) but needs some gentle correction when he first meets friends because he excites easily at play time. He loves to romp with similar energy dogs, and he would thrive in a pack. He has a strong prey drive, but with proper instruction he has left the cat alone in his current foster home. He is always looking to his person for guidance and commands. Red is also great with all people once he has been slowly introduced to them as his desire to guard his family comes naturally to him. He is not toy or food aggressive, and is crate trained. He loves going for car rides and can be left alone while running errands (he does get car sick now and then). For long trips he may need medication until he hopefully grows out of it. He gets bored easily, should not be left outside in the yard unattended and would do best with someone who works from home or is retired, and who can give him the exercise and stimulation he needs. At the end of the day, Red enjoys lying by your feet or next to you on a couch. He is a snuggler and wants to be close to his people. He's such an awesome dog and companion. If you are looking for a sweet, loyal and active dog and are excited to continue to be his partner in training, Red would be perfect for you. He weighs 70 lbs. Please email for an application.
