Howdy partners! I'm Rocky, the sweetest meatball in the Wild West! I started my journey at Animal Aid after my previous family had a baby who was very allergic to me. The transition has been a little... Rocky ... but I've proven myself to be the most loving, goofy partner in crime to the new people in my life. My nervousness around strangers can easily be worked through with patience, yummy treats, and a good head scratch. Don't be surprised if I sound the alarm when danger approaches our home! I haven't spent a ton of time with other dogs, but I never seem to mind being in the same space as them. I ignore them and mind my own business. I'm sure I could get along with a canine sibling if introduced slowly. I've shown an interest in chasing the neighborhood cats outside, so a cat free home is probably ideal. Older, respectful kids are also totally in my social wheelhouse. I'm looking for a home with either a fenced yard or a very quiet neighborhood. I'm still working through my fear of all the sights and sounds that I encounter on leashed walks outside of my comfort zone. A personal yard to zoom and play would be perfect for burning energy and those pesky extra pounds that I'm trying to lose. My foster parents say that I'm a total dream when left alone at home. This is a boy with all the love and happy-go-lucky fun anyone could ever want in a dog! His name is Dino and he just brings the most refreshing happiness with him. With the look of a Rottweiler, I need to be clear, this is not a Rottie size boy. He is bursting with love and fun but its all packed into a cute little mid-size package, currently weighing 55 lbs with a little more growing likely still ahead of him. Dino is estimated to be 8 months-1 year old, of course age and breed cannot be guaranteed given he is a rescue. He is a certified good boy though, we know that for a fact! We are torn on our observations leading us to him being a Rottweiler/ Lab mix or possibly a Doberman/Rottweiler mix. Whatever his make up is, it made the sweetest, friendliest boy! He is as sweet as they come. Dino’s friendly, accepting nature make him a joy to be around—he adores people and dogs alike and is always ready for his next adventure or a serious cuddle session. Dino’s playful spirit shined when we introduced him to other dogs. He is friendly and a bouncy, playful boy who also understood not all dogs like to bounce and play like him, and he could respect that.His friendly and happy-go-lucky playstyle makes him a great match for a household with another playful pup who will be happy to have met their match. Dino has shown that he’s great with dogs of all kinds but when he met our house cat he learned they are not as eager to make friends as he is. While he initially wanted to greet the cat with his signature playfulness, our house cat offered him a quick swipe to ask Dino to respect his space. Dino understood and respected the message. We would say Dino is cat-tolerant and with a dog-savvy cat, Dino could peacefully coexist. While Dino’s leash manners need a little polishing which will come with practice, he’s eager to please. He has the basics down and keeps a nice pace. Truly, you could take him on a walk now and be proud to have him by your side. Dino is incredibly affectionate and will charm you with his big, warm smile and brown eyes. He’s a lap dog at heart and has a signature move you will only see when you sit down, especially if you are on the ground. It is sort of a flop but also a melt. It is undeniable though, it is love! Penny is the epitome of an adventure buddy meets family girl. Penny Piper is a fun-loving girl with a gentle love of kids and people and a big playful love for toys and water. At home, she’s a sweet and affectionate companion who will happily sit in front of you for cuddles or cozy up on the couch when invited. Out in the yard or on an adventure, Penny’s playful spirit shines, especially when there is a toy or water involved—she’s is too cute and I can only imagine the cuteness overload if they were combined. Penny also lives with a cat but the cat is very good at hiding from the dog so she has had only a few interactions. When she met our house cat, a very dog-savvy stand-your-ground type of orange kitty, she showed a keen interest and we suspect, would likely try to playfully chase a cat in the home. That would likely fade but she would do best in a home where proper introductions can be made. Another dog would also help keep her playful love of chase satisfied and would help keep her focus off the feline-friend. Penny’s social butterfly personality is not only with people, she absolutely adores other dogs and is quick to show her playful side. Penny thrives in the company of a moderately playful dog who can match her enthusiasm for digging in the pool and a good game of chase. Penny is all-in for the fun! MEET RED! Red is a 1-1/2-year old loving and highly intelligent dog in need of a forever home! He is currently in a foster home. Red is great mix of smart and loyal breeds. He is part German Shepherd and Rottweiler, with a few other breeds like Border Collie and Australian Shepherd thrown in. (We did a DNA test - we're happy to share it!). Red is such a great dog in many ways: He is dog friendly, kid friendly and active. He is eager to learn, and will be excited to continue his training with a human companion. (He currently went through obedience training!). He does well off leash on walks in the country, and has wonderful recall. Once he knows you, he does not run off. He is constantly looking for fun things to chase but will look to you for permission and “leave it” when told. Red is also praise motivated and a fast learner. He gets along well with other dogs (loves dog parks!) but needs some gentle correction when he first meets friends because he excites easily at play time. He loves to romp with similar energy dogs, and he would thrive in a pack. He has a strong prey drive, but with proper instruction he has left the cat alone in his current foster home. He is always looking to his person for guidance and commands. Red is also great with all people once he has been slowly introduced to them as his desire to guard his family comes naturally to him. He is not toy or food aggressive, and is crate trained. He loves going for car rides and can be left alone while running errands (he does get car sick now and then). For long trips he may need medication until he hopefully grows out of it. He gets bored easily, should not be left outside in the yard unattended and would do best with someone who works from home or is retired, and who can give him the exercise and stimulation he needs. At the end of the day, Red enjoys lying by your feet or next to you on a couch. He is a snuggler and wants to be close to his people. He's such an awesome dog and companion. MEET PHOENIX! This handsome 8-year-old Dobie-Rottie mix needs a home! He was rescued from a shelter where he was a shelter favorite, and is currently in the Los Angeles area.. He weighs approx. 80 lbs. Phoenix is still an active and loving guy and will do best with an active person or people who can get him plenty of exercise. He has many positive traits - he is affectionate (he loves to give hugs once he knows you!), he walks well on a leash, and he is a very loyal and sweet dog. He will be your best friend for life . Phoenix prefers to have his person or people around, and will howl just a little if he is lonely. But he is not a barker unless its warranted. He can be a bit protective of his people and his property, and as such, he is dog-reactive on a leash. Phoenix would thrive as an only dog, or at least as an only male dog. MEET NOBU, a regal and handsome purebred 5-year-old red Doberman Pinscher in need of a foster or forever home. Nobu (his name signifies perseverance) was rescued from a crowded California shelter, where he had a kennel mate. Nobu is a calm and dignified dog, though he can be lively when excitement happens (such as squirrels!). He walks well on a leash, and gets along great with other dogs. He is friendly with people, and deeply affectionate with people he knows and loves. He will make a devoted and loving companion to his adopter(s), and will do well with a single person, a couple or a family with older kids (over 6).
