Story
Name, age, breed: Taya, 4 yrs, Rottweiler MixLikes: Treats, walks and spending time outdoors. Dislikes: UnknownWhat would be the ideal home? An adopter with knowledge/breed experience, who is willing to do mandatory obedience. Taya is very high energy and requires an adopter willing to maintain her high exercise requirement. Taya would do best as the only pet in the home. Good with other cats? UnknownGood with dogs? Unsure, may be possible with a very slow introduction. Taya comes off as dominent towards other dogs and can be reactive. Once settled into to her new home with the aid of a trainer and a slow introduction Taya may be okay around another dog. At this time we recommended that Taya be the only pet in the home. Good with children? No children under 14 yearsTemperament: Friendly and very high energy. Motivators? TreatsAny commands? Sit and downHouse trained? UnknownCrate trained? UnknownHow long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Taya needs to be muzzled for exams as she become very nervous and unsure. Taya does not enjoy wearing her muzzle. If you think Taya is the one for you - fill out an application today!
