Story
(DOB 05/28/2019) Micheal is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting. Our rescue will pay for the treatment & will be adoptable within 1 hour of Wake Forest, NC during the treatment period. Meet the one and only Michaela, a lovable girl with a heart as big as her paws! Michaela is a true sweetheart, always eager to make new friends and shower them with love. She's the kind of dog who will melt your heart with a wag of her tail and a gentle nuzzle.  While she’s super friendly, Michaela has a little bit of extra enthusiasm when it comes to walks; she tends to pull toward people like she’s on a mission to greet every passerby. When she is not on a mission to meet a new best friend on her daily walks, she is stopping, sniffing, and taking her time to check out the world around her. When up close and personal, she’s all about snuggles, sweet kisses, to let you know just how much she cares. Michaela is an absolute attention lover! She’ll happily soak up all the pets, belly rubs, and snuggles you can give her. Her favorite place in the world is right by your side, where she can enjoy endless affection and give you all her love in return. Whether it's a gentle scratch behind the ears or a full-on belly rub session, Michaela is always ready to show you just how much she appreciates the attention! Michaela would really thrive with a secure fenced yard (she can be a door/gate dasher so make sure to always have those securely closed & locked for her) where she can run, play, and get all the exercise she deserves. Currently, she's been enjoying a more chill lifestyle, which means she's packed on a little extra fluff (but don’t worry—she’s still as beautiful and loving as ever)! So a home with a 4-5ft fence is what Michaela has her eye on! That being said, other than that she's pretty flexible as far as family dynamics; she could be an only dog or be in a home with doggie siblings. Michaela hasn't had much of an opportunity to meet the little kiddos or cats. When it comes to her food, treats, and toys, Michaela can be a bit of a "princess" and prefers to keep her favorite things all to herself. She’s a natural guardian of her prized possessions and isn’t eager to share, so it’s best to offer these items in separate spaces to keep things peaceful. Consider Michaela a bit of a "food, treat, and toy enthusiast"—she’s got a big personality when it comes to her favorites! Michaela is a road trip enthusiast! She’s always ready for an adventure and loves hitting the open road with her favorite humans. Whether it's a quick trip to the park or a weekend getaway, Michaela is all about exploring new places and soaking in the sights and smells along the way. With her love for travel, she’s the perfect co-pilot for any journey, eagerly hopping into the car with her tail wagging and a big smile on her face. Ready to take her along for the ride? She’s always up for the next adventure! If you’re looking for a gorgeous, affectionate, and slightly silly companion who’s ready to find her forever family, Michaela might be just the girl for you! As part of Michaela’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Michaela, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2220931##

Story
Primrose feels SO lucky to have arrived at Saving Grace, and while she feels she has been given a second chance already, we are sure she is going to be the make-over story and heart dog you have been looking for! Primrose is a Rottie mix adult who weighs about 48 lbs full grown. While she may need to fill out a little bit with a few lbs, she is definitely the "mix" noted above though has some definite Rottie features. Primrose has been on her own for a while and her coat shows it right now, but her attitude shows nothing other than a happy, people loving, laid back, dog friendly gal who doesn't care where she has come from and can definitely live in the moment. Primrose is ready to "glow up" and could fit into pretty much any family. She has a medium energy level and doesn't need crazy exercise. Just time spent with you, some walks and LOTS of love and this girl is set! A special soul is Primrose. *Weekend Host feedback: "She was excellent in the car, on a leash and no accidents in the house. She is a sweet girl who just wants to be in the same room as everyone and loves to receive pets and cuddles. She does the cutest 'booty wiggle' when she gets excited. She would do a little wiggle and almost hum to herself every time she 'made her bed' before sleeping soundly throughout the night. She also has excellent manners and never tried to steal human food or beg. She is awesome and would do so well with a family or couple looking for a sweet, laid back companion".

Story
This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. If you are a 501c3 rescue and are interested in partnering with WCAC to help this pet, and others, you can find more information on how to help at: https://www.wakegov.com/departments-government/animal-services/community-partners/transfer-program Primary Color: Black Brown Weight: 50 Age: 2yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Abby is a stunning Rottweiler that is estimated to be 3 years old and weighs 65lbs.  After a rough start in life, she is now searching for her forever home.  Abby was never socialized properly prior to finding her way into  Best Friend Pet Adoption.  She has since been through an intensive 8 week positive training program and did very well. Feedback from her training program is that Abby is loyal, loving, and eager to please. She is very food and treat motivated. She loves to work for her food!  Abby enjoys her nosework training to enrich her life.   Abby is now being fostered by an experienced dog person who has continued to work with her training and confidence.  She is crate trained, leash trained and house broken.  She needs a fenced yard and ideally some additional walks during the day. She has been crated for up to 4 hours.    Abby is currently living successfully with two male Rotties with low energy.  She will not do well with high energy dogs and   would do best as an only dog with an experienced, responsible owner.  Having previous experience with Rottie's would be beneficial.  Abby would not do well in a home with cats or with a first time dog owner.  When around new people, Abby prefers to be ignored and then will approach and engage with them.   Abby has lived with kids and would be ok with older children 12+ that are able to respect boundaries. Could your home be the right fit for Abby?   She has come a long way from her miserable life before Best Friend Pet Adoption saved her.  Could you provide a wonderful life for Abby?  She will give you plenty of love in return.  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Abby and her 6 puppies were surrendered to a rural shelter in August 2023 when the puppies were only 4 weeks old. Animal control did a welfare check and found Abby living outside in a pen with a huge sore around her neck from an embedded collar. One of our volunteers wanted to help immediately and agreed to foster Abby and her puppies. The puppies have all been adopted and now it is Abby's turn to fine a wonderful home.     Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants ideally should  live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  For the right match for Abby, we will consider applicants who live further away if they are willing to travel to Cary to meet her.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ABBY?
