Story
Meet Gio, a SUPER handsome boy who finds himself at the shelter when his owner lost his housing. Gio is a boy who was loved and cared for, and we really hope that Gio can find another owner to continue that on for him. Since arriving to the shelter Gio has shown us how intelligent he is! He knows sit, paw, down, and more! He takes treats very gently in exchange for showing us all of his tricks. He's been open to handling and loves play time and cuddle time!
Gio is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm.

Behavior:
Per volunteer on 2/9: Per volunteer 2/9: Gio was a friendly boy, and liked to chase balls. He was excited to see other dogs, but didn't appear to be aggressive. Gio was pretty good on the leash, but pulled a little when he wanted to go see another dog.
Per staff on 2/6: Gio got out for some play time today! He greeted me enthusiastically, with soft eyes, a wagging tail, and excited toe taps. He pushed a bit on the door when I opened, but leashed easily and came right out. He pulled moderately, and tried to snatch up every treat on the floor that he saw. In the office all he wanted to do was play with a tennis ball! He would drop it in our laps and watch it until we threw it for him. He was incredible at catching it too! He could catch any toss mid air like Air Bud! Gio was very obedient for the ball, and would show us all his tricks just for a ball toss! He knew "sit", "paw", "down". He could be a bit snatchy and jumpy, but it's all puppy energy and he just needs a bit more training. Overall, he's a happy, high energy puppy that just needs some lessons on manners!
Per staff on 2/5: A very good boy!!! Knows sit, paw, loves tennis balls, walks pretty well on leash, but pulls a bit (I think just due to his size) He leashed easily and walked right back into his kennel! Allows pets and handling but seemed more interested in playing and romping around. Took treats nicely but was a tiny bit snatchy. Overall a great pup

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Gio was at the front of kennel with full butt wiggles, soft eyes and mid level wags. He allowed me to easily slip the leash on his head and exited easily. No issues returning
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls heavily
HANDLING :
In the room Gio was very friendly and social! He solicited attention from me and was fairly gentle given his size and young age! He leaned against me while I pet him and had no handling sensitivities. He demonstrated knowledge of sit, shake, down, and took treats gently when offered as well.
PLAY:
Engaged in play, a bit jumpy
TOYS:
Accepted trades, released willingly
Per Volunteer 2/4/25: He was very wiggly when we approached his kennel and allowed me to leash very easily! Pulls moderately on leash, but it’s very manageable. Super wiggly he takes pets all over. Knows sit and paw and takes treats gently. Such a gentle easy boy and playful- he loves toys! Found a box of toys and got a Kong out on his own and played with it until we had to put him back. Very good at fetch and no guarding of toys that I saw. Went back into his kennel easily and brought his toy with him. Such a good boy!!
Per Staff 2/4/25: Took treats nicely knows sit , paw, and down pretty friendly with everyone in lobby barked when another dog was barking
