Story
Oh, sweet Bubba! He is such a handsome caramel and black Rottweiler mix of ~7.5 years and ~55 pounds who came to us through @Saving Death Row Dogs in Topeka, Kansas. He's an amazing boy who deserves an equally amazing home. Bubba just adores children! His perfect day is being with his humans, running in the grass, and lounging with his toys. Bubba loves playing on the couch and rearranging the covers, too. Oh, and giving his human friends kisses! He's been around cats and does fine. Because they are scary to him, though, Bubba will not do well with other dogs in his home. Text or call The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more information about Bubba. If you'll foster him, all of his expenses will be paid. Bubba's adoption fee is also being paid by a friend and we can transport him from KC, if needed. 💕 #thepetconnection #RottweilerMix #RescueDog #AdoptDontShop #DogLovers #KansasDogs #PetAdoption #FosterAPet #DogRescue #KCAdopt #DogsofInstagram

Story
3 year old Portobello is an easy going big boy who enjoys going for walks and meeting people, as well as hanging out in the shelter playgroups with the other polite pups. This handsome boy was found as a stray so we don`t know anything about his previous life but we do know that he`s going to make his new adopters very happy with his gentle ways. Portobello needs a home with no children. He is fully house trained and kennel trained. He stays in the kennel when we aren`t home and at night. He will go into the kennel for a treat. Can sit, lay down, stay, and come. After a few slow introductions he became great buddies with our pitty. He is very interested in the cats, he will chase if they run. But there`s one cat that doesn`t run and he just sniffs that cat. With slow introductions he could likely live with other cats.On a leash he listens. He can be reactive over food and should be fed separately. We are working on that. He will do anything for a tennis ball.Portobello is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and ready to head home with you! This boy is currently living in a foster home. If you would like to learn more about him or meet him, please email foster@kcpetproject.org.

Roxy is one unique girl who's had a rough go being in our boarding facility for several years now, which is never good. That said, her personality is still that of a smiley happy dog, who loves to go on walks with our volunteers. Roxy was recently fostered in a home for the holidays where she did very well, having no accidents and behaving like an angel! Roxy can be a little nervous and unsure of men, which just means men should give her time to familiarize with them, and respect her by moving slowly, and not acting like an idiot or aggressive (I'm a guy btw, I can vouch we are idiots at times). Roxy needs someone patient, but once she connects with you, she will be your best friend and love you in the most special way. If you think you are that unique opportunity for Roxy, she's been waiting!Approximate Birthdate: Oct 2017Adoption Fee: Roxy's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Kansas City Crime Lab!TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming. TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL.Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed. Wednesday may be the runt of the litter, but she sure has a big personality in a tiny puppy body! She commands attention with her adorable face and spunky antics. Wednesday is still working on potty training, but is a quick learner. She sleeps well at night in her kennel with a soft bed or blanket, but she's an early bird. She's always excited for breakfast! Wednesday gets along great with the other dogs and cats in her foster home. Her favorite thing is to cuddle on the couch with her humans and other furry friends! Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. I'm a four-year-old boxer mix boy and kind of a beefcake at around 80 pounds. (I'd argue that it's all muscle, too.) One of the things I want most in a forever home is a human friend to hang out with, not doing anything in particular, just a couple pals spending time together. Wouldn't that be amazing? I'm a little shy at first, but if you'll give me a few minutes to get to know you, we'll be besties. And I promise to be your snuggle pup! Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around 24/7. I know sit, down, stay, high five, orbit, between, and wait. Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in water from the hose. In case I wasn't clear enough on that, I LOVE PLAYING IN THE WATER!!!. My favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and am good at being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’d do best in a home with older children because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and that will make YOU happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection #BoxerMix #AdoptDontShop #RescueDog #DogsofKC #SmartPup #PlayfulPup #ForeverHomeNeeded #KCAdopt #DogLovers #pawsitivetailskc

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the mere sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop

Story
Cheeseburger, aptly named after her favorite food, is an amazing dog! This smiley girl had a rough start in life, she was found starved in the countryside with her 3 little pups. Her new lease on life has allowed her to bloom into the wonderfully sweet dog she is now! Unfortunately, even though she's no longer having to scrounge for scraps, she still has a taste for chickens... Despite how shy she is when she first meets new people, she's very eager to please. Pair that with her food motivation, and you've got the BEST buddy. She's good with other dogs and has lived with children in a foster home! Cheeseburger loves to play with other dogs, and it truly brings out a sillier side of her! If you're looking for a sweet, multifaceted companion who will look to you for reassurance and love, then come meet her! She's got so much love to give!!! All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process. This will also start the meeting process for those animals in foster care: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/MARQ/Dog
