Story
Who needs some Gin? Gin's estimated DOB is 05/15/2022 and she's a black and brown Rottweiler. Gin and Tonic are sisters who were found and brought to us as strays. Tonic has found her home, but Gin is still looking for her people. She would love to be in a home with a playmate. She loves to play with other dogs. Gin can be timid at first, but she warms up to new people within a couple of days and when she sees somebody she knows approaching, she wags her whole entire butt! She learned commands exceptionally fast and is treat-motivated. So far, her favorites seem to be hard bones filled with peanut butter treat, and she's not a big fan of the bacon kind. She's also been working on leash training and is doing a great job! She weighs 50 pounds. She is house trained; crate trained and loves to cuddle and lounge on the couch. She does like to dig in the yard but is redirected easily. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647. Are you looking for your next sweetheart? Spritzer is you gal! She is a fun-loving mixed breed dog. Estimated DOB 8/24/2021. She loves to snuggle and prefers a lap to snuggle on. She is house trained, does great with other dogs and didn't have any interests when cat tested. Her cold weather foster said she was the perfect house guest. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. No appointment needed for adopters. For more information, email havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647. Save time at the shelter and submit your adoption application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt.

Story
Chomp is a very sweet, polite, patient, calm, and curious guy. He walks decent on a leash and loves people. Chomp would do best in an adult only home as he doesn't really know how to act around small children and gets nervous. His reaction to cats is unknown. He is dog friendly but somewhat selective. It would require a proper and slow introduction with your other pets. Chomp was rescued from the SWC pound and we are just hoping to find a brighter future for him, he deserves it :)

Story
Rebel is a super sweet senior boy who just wants to lay around and keep you company. It is evident he has had a rough history, and really needs somewhere for a soft landing. The shelter is not that place, he needs a home. Rebel is about 8 years old, appears to be a Rottweiler mix, would do best in a home where there are no small children. If you have other dogs who mind their manners and stay to themselves, Rebel would work out great for you! He just doesn't like to be messed with. Rebel tested positive for heart worms after coming to us, so a calm household is preferred

Story
Meet Tate, a Rottweiler mix with a heart as big as his personality. Tate is an adult dog with a sweet and friendly nature. His smart mind loves learning new tricks, and his playful side enjoys a good game of fetch. After a day of fun, Tate turns into a cuddly companion, ready to snuggle up and share some love. Despite his energetic moments, Tate has a mellow demeanor that makes him a wonderful companion for a calm afternoon. Adopting Tate means gaining a loyal friend who will bring joy, companionship, and unconditional love to your home. Tate is a 2 - 3 yr old male Rottweiler mix. He has a medium energy level, so he should fit in well with most homes provided he receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. He does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! Tate is food motivated, and knows the commands sit and down. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642. I AM SPONSORED! Story
Meet Dusty, a senior Rottweiler with a heart of gold. With his gentle demeanor and mellow spirit, he is a loyal friend, always ready to listen or provide comfort. Dusty's sweet nature makes him an ideal companion for quiet evenings, and his wagging tail shows his love for companionship. Cuddly and warm, he brings wisdom, patience, and unwavering devotion. Adopting Dusty means welcoming unconditional love and joy into your life. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their size in a group setting, and dog meet-and-greets with the adopter's dog(s) are always encouraged. A cat test may be conducted at the adopter's request but should only be used as a general-purpose screening to rule out overt aggression. We always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendations on the suitability of placement with children by age are based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavioral observations in the shelter environment should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at a given point in time and may not be indicative of a dog's overall mental health. The Joplin Humane Society believes all adopters need to be prepared to invest time and energy into working with their new dog, as animals arrive at the shelter from a variety of situations and scenarios and may have had little to no prior training. Dogs should never be fed together unless it is known that they do not possess resource-guarding tendencies. We always encourage adopters to research the breeds or mixes of breeds before adoption as many can have unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Keep in mind that the transition from the shelter to a home environment is stressful for dogs, and the Rule of 3 should be used as a rule of thumb when introducing a dog to their new surroundings. For the first 3 days, fear, anxiety, and stress levels are at their highest; and dogs may appear lethargic, remain hidden, are easily excitable, or have a loss of appetite. In the next 3 weeks, dogs will be actively developing a routine, and new personality traits may appear as stress levels decrease. During this period, it is recommended that adopters limit the dog's exposure to new people and places as they adjust and keep them in a crate or designated quiet room when left alone. Time outside of the home should be short, and crowds or loud noise should be avoided. After 3 months, a bond has developed between the dogs and their new family, and the animal should appear more comfortable in unfamiliar situations. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642.

Story
Qira is a sweet Boxer mix that came to Faithful Friends Animal Advocates as a stray in March 2017, when she was 11 months old. After being at FFAA for whopping 3 years, she was finally adopted and had a home of her own for a couple of years before finding herself being abandoned when her family surrendered her to Animal Control. When Faithful Friends received the call that she was there, we gladly took her back, even though our heart was broken for this poor girl. Unfortunately when she came back to us the second time, she was blind in in her left eye, but she doesn’t let that slow her down!If you count the days Qira was here before being adopted (995 days) and the days she has been here since being brought back (855+ days), she has been here for a combined total of 1,850+ days. She has spent over 5 of her 8 years inside of a shelter, and that is FAR too long. She NEEDS and deserves to get out of this stressful shelter environment and finally have the home she has always dreamed of. She loves her stuffed animals and to play tug of war. She also enjoys going for leisurely walks and is always ready to snuggle up on the couch! With the blindness in her left eye, she is occasionally prone to startling easily. Because of this, she would do best in a home without young children. She is not reactive towards other dogs when she is out and about, but she tends to be selective when meeting them up close--she doesn't like excitable, hyperactive dogs to be in her space.
