We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Barkley is a sweet 5 yr old rottie mix. She has been in rescue over 3 years. She needs to find her forever home. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats or small dogs. She has done absolutely fine with older children. She has not been exposed to smaller kids other than walking through the store and did fine. She has been completely vetted and is house and crate trained. She loves her belly rubs and will often wait for you to give her one before coming inside. She has no issues

Story
This boy is the last of the litter still looking for a home. He is very friendly, loves to play and would love an active family. He gets along with other dogs and doesn't have to be the alpha. He will need all the puppy training as he's never been inside of a house. He is a quick learner and is learning manners when greeting people (he's a bit jumpy). He is a fun boy who just wants to have a good time. He is located in Tennessee but can be transported through Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Meet Robin Hood: A Gentle Soul Ready for His Forever Home Robin Hood’s story is one of resilience and hope. Once abandoned and emaciated, left to survive on his own, this sweet Rottweiler has come such a long way. Now, he’s ready to find the loving home he’s always deserved—a place where he can continue to heal and thrive. Robin Hood is a gentle spirit who marches to the beat of his own drum. He takes life at his own pace, needing a little extra time to adjust to routines and learn commands. But beneath his cautious demeanor lies a heart full of unconditional love. With patience and understanding, Robin Hood will reward his new family with a bond like no other. During his time at the shelter, Robin Hood has worked hard on training, meeting new people, and learning to accept and give affection. His unique personality makes every interaction with him special and deeply rewarding. Robin Hood would thrive in a calm, patient home without small children. While he’s non-reactive to dogs and could share his home with a canine companion, a proper and slow introduction will be key to his success. This sweet boy has endured so much, and his journey forward will require a family who sees his worth and is committed to supporting him as he navigates his new life. To ensure the best transition for Robin Hood, we’re currently considering foster-to-adopt homes for him. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this one-of-a-kind pup, apply now to start the next chapter of his journey. Robin Hood is waiting for the love and care he’s always deserved—could you be the one to give it to him? Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Rags is a very friendly and chill Rottie mix who was luckily rescued by his foster. He was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit. Rags currently lives with several other dogs and is very loving and sweet. It appeared he was not very well taken care of when found. He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. He had heartworm disease when we first got him but he was treated and is now healthy and heartworm negative. Rags is about 72 pounds and estimated to be about 9 years old. Rags has a good personality and would love to finally find a wonderful new family to love and care for him. This fellow definitely deserves it. Please consider making him a new addition to your home or companion for another friendly dog.
