Story
Hi there! My name is Pollo, and I’m an exceptionally intelligent boy who’s been waiting for my forever home at FMAR for over five years. When I first arrived as a stray, I was in rough shape, but I’ve come a long way since then. Now, I’m ready to show someone just how wonderful I can be! Many people thought I was predominantly Pit Bull Terrier, but thanks to a DNA test done by a volunteer, I found out my true heritage! I’m made up of: * 52% Rottweiler * 27% American Pit Bull Terrier * 16% American Staffordshire Terrier * 3% American Bulldog You can really see my Rottweiler coloring shine in the sunlight! I have big dreams of becoming an agility dog! The volunteers here set up obstacle courses, and I absolutely love showing off my jumping skills. When I’m not being active, I enjoy relaxing in the yard and soaking up the sun. I might be a bit shy when meeting new people, but give me a few treats, and I’ll be your best friend in no time! I would thrive best with an experienced owner who understands my behavioral challenges. Nowadays, I’m fairly laid back and love spending time with the volunteers. Once I get to know someone, I quickly settle down and just crave a little love and affection. A few short walks or some time in a fenced backyard is all the exercise I need, and I enjoy mental stimulation through games and obedience commands. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is eager to learn and love, come meet me, Pollo! I can’t wait to show you just how special I am. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care I have received. *Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. The adoption process may require multiple visits to the shelter before a dog can go home with you. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. One we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Rags is a very friendly and chill Rottie mix who was luckily rescued by his foster. He was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit. Rags currently lives with several other dogs and is very loving and sweet. It appeared he was not very well taken care of when found. He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. He had heartworm disease when we first got him but he was treated and is now healthy and heartworm negative. Rags is about 72 pounds and estimated to be about 8 years old. Rags has a good personality and would love to finally find a wonderful new family to love and care for him. This fellow definitely deserves it. Please consider making him a new addition to your home or companion for another friendly dog.

Duke Dumont A17041980 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old -Big, handsome blockheaded boy!-He’s calm and gentle-Walks well on a leash. Only pulled occasionally when he had to go potty.-Likes treats and takes them very gently-Knows “sit” and “paw”. -Enjoys a pet here and there but not overly needy-Just a friendly, gentle guy-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30 BUT our adoptions are done 7 days a week from 10:30am -3:00pm. •The last potential adopter must arrive before 3:00 pm so we have time to properly help you before closing. **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Story
This is 4 year old Kane. He use to live in a motel with his family when they were evicted. Now, he is not able to do that. Kane is a very sweet boy that gets along with other dogs when properly introduced and is good with kids although he does like to jump. He has not been cat tested ,but just like my dogs and others, he can learn to like cats. Kane knows his basic commands and loves to play. But as you can tell from the pictures, he also loves to chill. He is in a temporary foster right now. Kane would love to find a foster to adopt or just be adopted so he can finally be home. Maybe you'd like to meet him?
