Story
Meet Luka! A charming seven-and-a-half-year-old Rottweiler mix from Simsbury, CT, whose heart is as big as his love for tennis balls. With his striking black and brown coat and those famously convincing "puppy dog" eyes, Luka has mastered the art of melting hearts—especially when it comes to scoring extra treats! Luka is the perfect balance of playful energy and laid-back companionship. He lives for long walks, thrilling car rides, and endless games of fetch with his beloved tennis ball. When he's not zooming around the yard, he’s all about belly rubs, cuddles, and chewing on his favorite Benebone. His friendly and affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion for young children, and he welcomes new people with a wagging tail and an open heart! This intelligent pup knows a variety of commands, including "ride," "outside," "walk," "sit," "crate," "bed," "food," and "treat"—especially the last one! Though he hasn’t had formal obedience training, his smarts and eagerness to please make him a great candidate for continued learning. He’s crate-trained and fully house-trained, so he’s already got the basics down. Luka thrives with a routine, enjoying his meals in the morning and evening, with plenty of time in between to relax, play, and explore. While Luka is generally independent and can be left alone without issue, he does prefer a calm environment—sudden loud noises or the vacuum cleaner aren’t his favorite things. He gets along with some dogs but can be selective, so slow introductions are best. As for cats, he hasn’t had enough interaction to say for sure. One thing he does need is a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and chase after his favorite toy to his heart’s content! Luka has a special bond with his brother, Gunner, and it would be wonderful if they could stay together. But if you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s ready to fill your days with joy, Luka is more than ready to meet you! Could your home be the one he's been waiting for? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Luka and how he can become part of your family!

Story
This dog has been our backbone with everything that has come our way, He is such a loving young man. He is very well behaved, loves small animals he has lived with rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoise, three different cats and he is a gentle giant. Everybody he meets become his friends, with his stub wagging away anytime he sees them, he has been around babies since they have came home, two of our little girls actually. Those are his babies.. kisses when they get home everyday! When I walk through the door you would think he is a rabbit, he jumps up and down with all four legs. Again this hurts. I do NOT want him to leave us, but to better our lives and or even maintain a roof over our head we can not have him. Tough decision! We didn’t expect to have to move when he was gifted to us. He is a very home and family oriented dog, with love, snuggles and treats, He will love someone else who loves him I have no question of that… Please help us find a good home for him

Story
Gus is an 11-month-old Rottweiler/Black Lab mix with a heart full of love. He was born on March 16, 2024, and we welcomed him into our lives at 10 weeks old after finding him on Petfinder. We picked him up in New Hampshire, and from the start, we knew he was special. He was the smallest of his litter but that never stopped him from being full of love and curiosity. Gus has been an easygoing, affectionate, and well-mannered puppy. He is relaxed, eager to learn, and incredibly loving. Training him has been a breeze; he picks up commands quickly. He enjoys playtime, going for walks, and cuddling up. He has a gentle temperament, making him a wonderful companion for the right family. It truly breaks our hearts that we can’t keep him, and we are looking for a loving and responsible home where he will be cherished. Ideally, his new home would have space for him to run and play, and an owner who can continue to give him the love, structure, and companionship he deserves.

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 6-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $350. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
