Story
Luna is a giant puppy. She is excitable, a bit dramatic and playful. She is crate trained and a big softy. She will sit at your feet all day long. She knows how to sit, sit pretty (on her hind legs) and lie down on command. She doesn't bark too much, but has natural security instincts. She is not vicious but she does try to play fight with dogs and doesn't know her boundaries so it can quickly escalate so she is best supervised when with other dogs. We had 2 dogs most of her life and they got along 99% of the time. Ideally she would be in a home that has a big yard and no other pets. She doesn't have a lot of stamina so she only needs a short walk. She's generally lazy. She does like to dig in dirt so if there are potted plants around and she is unsupervised she will root like pig.

Story
Flavia is a one of a kind girl who can`t wait to be someone`s best friend. She loves to meet new people and show off her best butt wiggles. Flavia was potty trained and crate trained in her previous home, but she might need a reminder that jumping on people to say hello can be considered rude. Flavia has met lots of dogs while she`s been with us and seems like she would do just find with an easy going canine companion. Unfortunately, Flavia came to us with a large Mast Cell Tumor on her leg and despite removing it we were unable to get all of the cancer. Thankfully, it a low grade tumor that isn`t likely to spread quickly, but could reoccur. A good relationship with a vet will be important to keep an eye on the site and discuss options for continued care. Flavia is a sweet and silly girl and we`re very hopeful she has many happy years ahead of her!If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in - and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Hercules is originally from Peru, I brought him over when he was 12 weeks old and has been with me for over 10 years, he is gentle giant and very friendly with every domestic animal, he loves attention and to be pet as much as possible. Unfortunately I’m relocating due to financial stress to a small place and they don’t allow pets and I don’t have much options unfortunately. Im just looking for someone that will give Hercules a loving home.

Story
Roxie is 8 years old and born april 10, 2016! My grandfather had rescued her when she was 1 years old. He unfortunately passed away last year. I’ve had her since and need to find her a forever home. She is a wonderful dog! She just needs more attention than I can give with a toddler and a newborn on the way. She is such a loyal and protective dog. She loves cuddles and LOVES to play! Her preferred toy is a massive rock (I think that’s why they named her Roxie). She knows sit, sit pretty, lay down, and paw. We have 3 cats who she gets along with and another dog! She is gentle with my 1 year old but her tail is a bit uncontrollable. She still has the energy of a puppy and definitely needs retraining on a leash. She is truly such a lovely dog and it breaks my heart to have to rehome her.

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 5-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! -- If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Worcester. The adoption fee is $250. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
