Story
Meet Cody, a charming senior Rottweiler mix with a heart of gold. His personality is a delightful blend of sweetness and friendliness, making him a perfect companion for anyone seeking a loyal friend. Despite his age, Cody's playful spirit remains intact, always ready for a fun game or a leisurely walk. His intelligence is evident in his quick learning and adaptability. He's a cuddly fellow, always ready for a warm hug or a gentle pat. Cody's mellow demeanor ensures a peaceful environment, making him an ideal fit for a calm household. His gentleness and love for humans are unmatched. He is a testament to the saying, 'Age is just a number'. Adopt Cody and let his love enrich your life. Cody is a 5 - 6 yr old male Rottweiler mix. He has a medium energy level, so he should fit in well with most homes provided he receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. He does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! Cody is food motivated and knows the command sit. He gets along with other dogs, but is intensely interested in cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the path that you are adopting. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642.

Story
PALS is participating in NBC's Clear the Shelters campaign, and Misty's adoption fee is fully sponsored. She is 2 years old. You can tell from her smile that she is a happy girl who loves people and enjoys playing with other dogs. She would probably chase a cat if given a chance, though. She likes to be included in whatever you’re doing and loves butt scratches. She does potty in her pen overnight (oops!). She is cautious and shy around new people at first, but then is affectionate and playful. She is good with some dogs and is leash trained. She could be an indoor/outdoor dog, but an apartment would not be good.
