Story
"Hi. I'm new here. They said I should introduce myself. Well here's me. I haven't quite figured out why I'm here. I'm not sure I love it yet.😻Let's talk cats: I'm mildly interested - but don't chase. I walked towards the Princess who slipped under a car. Then I saw the gray one and walked slowly towards it, then the white one came out of barn, and I lost interest by then and turned away. I don't feel the need to spend a lot of energy pulling or chasing those things. Moving on to more interesting topics. 🐶I don't know if I like all the yapping inside. How do all those guys have so much to say.?👨‍👩‍👦 I am not a fan of people standing and staring in at me in my space. That's rude. I'm ok one on one with people. I'll get back to that. I'm rather medium large size but I try to watch my figure. I'm not a boisterous outgoing gal. I'd rather read a book than jump all over you. I watch some of these yappers Carrying on, jumping all around -maybe one of us should change our diet. I don't have the time or energy for that behavior. Maybe I need to eat more fruit. Anywhooo.... If u want to meet me, ring me up in D10. It's a nice space with view of outside. I'm at the end of the row so I don't get bothered by too many other yappers. We will have to see if I can find a buddy in here. This one Lady is really nice and gives me pets and walks me. She says I'm beautiful. Maybe she will be my bff. I'm pretty independent, but maybe a friend or two wouldn't hurt. We will have to see. I'll be able to give you more info in a few days once I settle in." Story
Chewy has arrived here at HSWC headquarters and his quest to find himself the perfect family has begun. Although this top executive is not showing us why he was named Chewy we can only assume he is somehow related to the founders of the Chewy inc. He is a very nice fella. He is in unfamiliar surroundings but has been polite and easy going so far. Once he is out on the walk he can't get enough sniffs and smelling all the new smells. He enjoys exploring. Don't be offended if he's more interested in sniffing the grass right now. He has had limited roaming experience. Probably worked alot of hours at the company. He pays more attention to you once all the outside smelling is done.He will benefit from some obedience training and will gain confidence with structure and boundaries. Did we mention how handsome he is? He has a very sweet and gentle personality. Seems to walk by cats without much care.Go slow is the name of game with this beautiful boy. He's been on a roller coaster and is looking for stability in his next merger. Please consider adding this hardworking fella to your life if you can give him a wonderful journey and help him be his best self. He is a bit underweight and could use a few cheeseburgers. He has been around other dogs, but slow introductions and feeding in separate locations will be the keys to success in his new home. Potential siblings will need to be interviewed to determine compatibility. Come and meet Chewy! He has added you to his wish list... You will not be disappointed.🟢 Ok by cats. Limited experience. Slow, supervised interactions recommended.🟢 Showing no negative reactivity to dogs. 🟢 Good with people.💚Easy walker. ⚠️ Needs to gain weight.🐾 7 years old. 47 pounds. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 51.6 Age: 7yrs 1mths 1wks

Good on a leash: Yes, she loves to smell new things and explore a little but redirects easily. Energy level: we’re slowly getting out of the puppy stage, but she still loves to play with other dogs. Pretty relaxed w the humans, but loves to run outside and play her version of fetch (it doesn’t involve retrieving). And she loves getting attention in the house. Need a fenced in yard: not if she’s leashed when you’re outside. But she’d prefer space to run free. After all, she was in a shelter from the time she was 1 month old to 7 months. Dog Friendly: YES! She loves other dogs and wants to be engaged w them If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, she loves them, but also loves her attention from her people. Cat Friendly? Yes, she will approach and try to get them to play with her and then leaves them alone if they don’t seem interested. Kid Friendly: Yes. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? She is around all ages with her foster, youngest was 5 when she came into the home. She’s recently been around a 2 yr old that hung all over her and she loved every minute. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Kelby came from a shelter down south, where she was from the time she was one month old until we got her here at 7 months. She has made herself at home and she’s well mannered and is such a lovable dog. She love balls and will carry them around to her hearts content. Story
Meet Susie Q, our 2-year-old Rottweiler with a heart as big as her personality! This gorgeous girl came to us as a stray, but from day one, she’s been a friendly face with all of our staff. While her past remains a mystery, it’s clear she’s likely been a mom before. Susie Q has that classic Rottie charm—medium energy, a love for toys, and an insatiable appetite for treats. She’s a smart cookie, but she could use a training-focused home to help her learn the ropes, as it seems she didn’t have many rules in her previous life. When she gets excited, Susie Q can be a bit mouthy, but she’s quick to listen and adjust when told. And like any true Rottie, she has her signature grumble when she’s happy, which might sound intimidating to those unfamiliar with the breed.Susie Q would thrive in a home with children over 12 due to her size, energy, and playful nature. She’s not keen on sharing her food with other dogs, so she’d be happiest as the reigning queen of her castle. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: acskc.org/adoption/adoption-applicationOnce your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet!
