Story
Meet Susie Q, our 2-year-old Rottweiler with a heart as big as her personality! This gorgeous girl came to us as a stray, but from day one, she’s been a friendly face with all of our staff. While her past remains a mystery, it’s clear she’s likely been a mom before. Susie Q has that classic Rottie charm—medium energy, a love for toys, and an insatiable appetite for treats. She’s a smart cookie, but she could use a training-focused home to help her learn the ropes, as it seems she didn’t have many rules in her previous life. When she gets excited, Susie Q can be a bit mouthy, but she’s quick to listen and adjust when told. And like any true Rottie, she has her signature grumble when she’s happy, which might sound intimidating to those unfamiliar with the breed.Susie Q would thrive in a home with children over 12 due to her size, energy, and playful nature. She’s not keen on sharing her food with other dogs, so she’d be happiest as the reigning queen of her castle. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: acskc.org/adoption/adoption-applicationOnce your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! Story
Hi, my name is Kaya! I am an almost 5 month old Rottie mix who came to Cheyla's rescue about 3 weeks ago. I am incredibly sweet and do fabulous with kids and enjoy other dogs, but can be a bit nervous at first if the dogs are super high energy. I warm up quickly though and love getting roomies and playing with them! My foster mom says I LOVE toys and playing tug, but I am a tough chewer so I do need tougher toys so I don't chew them up. I also love cuddling on the couch after a burst of zoomies. I am crate trained and do well sleeping in my crate all night long. I sometimes cry the first night for a few minutes, but once I am used to my surroundings, I sleep through the night. I am also doing super well with house training and will run to the door when I have to go out, but I do still occasionally have an accident if you do not let me out quickly enough. I am still a puppy so I still need some basic training and would love to attend puppy classes to meet new puppy friends and learn how to be the best girl. If you are interested in adopting me, please apply on using the link below! https://cheylasrescue.org/dadopt_app.php

Dog Name: Kelby Breed: Rottweiler/Pit Mix (maybe) Sex: Female Age: 11 months Weight: 50 ish pounds Medical Needs: None Housebroken: Yes! And she knows the route to outside and will paw at the door to go out. Crate trained: Yes, she does very well, does expect a little treat when she gets in for good behavior. Good in the car: Yes, loves being able to look out the window and explore. Good on a leash: Yes, she loves to smell new things and explore a little but redirects easily. Energy level: we’re slowly getting out of the puppy stage, but she still loves to play with other dogs. Pretty relaxed w the humans, but loves to run outside and play her version of fetch (it doesn’t involve retrieving). And she loves getting attention in the house. Need a fenced in yard: not if she’s leashed when you’re outside. But she’d prefer space to run free. After all, she was in a shelter from the time she was 1pm to old to 7 months. Dog Friendly: YES! She loves other dogs and wants to be engaged w them . If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, she loves them, but also loves her attention from her people. Cat Friendly? Yes, pretty much ignores the cat altogether. Kid Friendly: Yes. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? She is around all ages with her foster, youngest was 5 when she came into the home. She’s recently been around a 2 yr old that hung all over her and she loved every minute. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Kelby came from a shelter down south, where she was from the time she was one month old until we got her here at 7 months. I can’t get over how well she has adapted, she’s well mannered and is such a lovable dog.
