Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 25th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Toby is a 6 month old Boxer x Beagle mix who’s ready to rock and roll his way into your heart! Toby was found wandering the streets of San Jose by good samaritans who did their best to find his former home. When that wasn’t possible, they got him seen by a vet and are now hoping to find him a new landing place where he can grow and thrive. Toby currently weighs around 35 pounds and will probably max out around 50 pounds. If you’re ready for adventure with a canine best friend, come and meet Toby!      Toby is a happy and loving puppy ready to make the world his own! He loves to play with his humans, his toys, and his canine foster brother. He adores his humans and loves knowing where everyone is. He is the perfect mix of active and laid back, especially for a large-breed puppy. According to his foster mom, he is 50% playful and 50% loungey. He loves his long walks though and would be an amazing addition to an active home looking to explore the outdoors. We could see Toby thriving in a variety of homes, as long as there is plenty of love in store for him! He loves having a playful companion but he could also thrive solo! He’s just ready to be your happy and faithful companion. He is also super smart as well as food motivated and has picked up tons of tricks in the time he has been with his foster people. You won’t find a better more amazing companion than Mr. Toby!  Toby wakes up at 7 AM and heads outside to stretch and go potty. He gets lots of pets and hugs before he relaxes as his humans start their day. He has breakfast at 8 AM inside of his crate and then spends some time playing with his toys and relaxing. He goes on a walk around 11 AM before returning home for an afternoon of napping and playing with his toys. At 4 PM he practices some of his tricks before he goes on another walk, followed by some playtime at the park. He has dinner at 7 PM and then plays with his toys. He winds down around 9 PM and heads to bed after one last potty break.  Toby currently lives with a large dog and they get along very well. He loves humans of all ages as long as they will play with him! Toby walks well on the leash and loves his strolls. He is house trained. If you’re ready to find your new pal, come on down and meet Toby!      Toby is an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 5.January 25, 2025, 12:25 am

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $750 Meet Xerox – Your Future Adventure Buddy & Velcro Companion! Xerox is a 4-5 month old Doberman Pinscher with a heart as big as his puppy paws. When he was rescued from the shelter, he was barely 20 pounds—skinny, scared, and unsure of the world. But fast forward a couple of weeks, and this boy has discovered the joy of play, cuddles, and full-blown Doberman energy. He’s now a healthy 35 pounds and growing fast! Daily Routine – AKA, Xerox’s Puppy Agenda Xerox is an early riser—we’re talking before the sun early! His day starts with a potty break, some playtime, and breakfast at 5:30 AM (which he will remind you about, loudly). After fueling up, he heads outside for a good romp with his foster brother, Lucian, a 7-year-old Doberman who has taken him under his wing. During the day, Xerox relaxes in his crate while his humans are at work, with a midday play session to break things up. By 3:30 PM, it’s time for another round of outdoor zoomies or a walk, followed by dinner at 4:30 PM (again, he will make sure you don’t forget). Evenings are for family time, snuggles, and recharging for another day of fun! Personality – From Timid to Totally Thriving When Xerox first arrived, he was afraid of everything—even doorways. But with a little love (and some help from Lucian), he has transformed into a happy, bouncy, affectionate pup. He’s discovered that life is actually pretty awesome—especially when there are cuddles involved. Xerox now loves kisses, enjoys belly rubs, and has even mastered the “give me a kiss” command (because, of course, he aims to please). He’s a classic Velcro Doberman, always keeping an eye on his humans and sticking close. However, his absolute favorite thing? Following Lucian around like a little shadow and copying everything his big foster brother does! Social Life – Making Friends & Winning Hearts Xerox is great with other dogs and adores playing with them. He met his foster family’s 11- and 13-year-old nephews, and they instantly became best friends. He even let them take him on a walk to the park, proving that he’s the perfect mix of playful and chill. When he visited a friend’s house with a Bernese Mountain Dog, he had the time of his life—and now, he happily hops into the car, excited for any new adventure. Training & Smart Puppy Things Xerox is crate trained and learning house manners, though he still has the occasional accident (we’re working on it!). Since he was likely potty pad trained before, he’s getting used to doing his business on grass instead of your favorite door mat. He’s food-motivated and super smart, already mastering 'sit' and working on 'off' for his excited puppy jumps. And speaking of food—this boy eats like it’s a competitive sport! A special slow-feeder bowl helps him pace himself, but he will never, ever, ever let you forget mealtime. What Makes Xerox Special? Xerox is the total package—sweet, playful, loving, and eager to please. He has overcome so much in a short time, and now he’s ready for a forever home that will continue to help him thrive. He’d love another dog to show him the ropes, but most importantly, he wants a family that will cuddle him, train him, and take him on fun adventures. If you’re looking for a loving, fun, and ridiculously adorable Velcro pup, Xerox is ready to copy your every move (and steal your heart). Apply to adopt him today!   Xerox would like to find a home with another dog. If there are children in the home they need to be over the age of 5.  January 29, 2025, 1:09 am
