Story
MEET RINGO! Ringo is a handsome and loyal 5-year-old Rottweiler in need of a forever home! He was rescued from a crowded California shelter, and currently is in a foster home, where he spends time with other canine pals. He was an owner surrender, though we don't know why because he's such a sweetheart! Ringo would do well with a person or people with Rottie or big-dog experience. He's truly a love, and he deserves a wonderful home. He weighs around 75-80 lbs. Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Allegra!-1 year old spayed female Rottweiler -Allegra was brought to the Shelter after her previous guardian lost housing and was unable to continue caring for her-Previously lived primarily outdoors, without much in the way of pampering-May need a bit of patience to acclimate to indoor living, but she will LOVE being closer to her people and family!-Would thrive with a dog savvy adopter that will provide play, regular walks and outings, and plenty of positive reinforcement and relationship-based training-Very playful with staff at the Shelter, loves a good squeaky toy and is good at entertaining herself, too-She can be a bit rambunctious, so dog-comfortable, hardy kids and/or teens, or no kids might be best fit-May do well with another dog in the home-No history with catsNow through December 23rd – the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is hosting “Home for the Holidays”. This adoption event reduces the adoption fee for all cats, rabbits and dogs to $50.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Milo is a 9 year-old mixed breed dog. He is a good training buddy and highly food motivated. He has taken a number of training classes and knows many cues. On a day to day basis he's an easy dog who sleeps most of the day, while still enjoying walks and hiking. He's very healthy and regularly gets mistaken for a much younger dog. He walks well on leash. Away from the home he is friendly to strangers and non dog reactive. In the home he is overly excited by new people and takes awhile to settle. He loves all people, he just gets worked up at first. He is very anxious about babies and toddlers and needs a home without young children. We are rehoming him because he is extremely anxious around our newborn. Milo would be a good companion for someone looking for a constant companion who enjoys daily cuddles. If you enjoy dog training, he'll train all day with you.
