My parents adopted me as a puppy, but I haven’t had the best life and have been mostly in my kennel for the last 3 years. So now, my big sis Balu and I are fostered in Sacramento waiting to find our forever home(s). I’m good with people & love being walked, receiving affection and being played with! If you can adopt my sister Balu too, that’d be even better. I grew up with 2 young kids (+2 more recently). But my ideal home would have no kids or other dogs. Looking for someone to safely help me adjust to a new home this late in life. And who can help me overcome behaviors like pulling on walks, and excited jumping. As well as chewing tendencies when left unsupervised in an environment that allows. I need someone who has a secure fenced in yard or who’ll have me on a dependable leash at all times outside. Someone who can provide financial support for any medical needs. I just need someone who’ll give me the time and attention I deserve, and most importantly, who’ll NEVER give up on me!

Reuben is a 60 pound dog who is 3 years old. He loves to play and the quickest way to his heart is treats! This guy loves to eat. In fact, he might very well be named after the sandwich! Due to being so food motivated it makes him easy to direct and teach things to! One of his favorite pastimes is food puzzle toys! He`s really good at them! You can time him and so far his record is 3 minutes! He enjoys fetch but sometimes he gets distracted and won`t bring things back so he is working on it. He almost always catches balls when you throw them though! Reuben recently went on a Foster FURlough fieldtrip! Reuben visited Green Acres, stopped by Starbucks for a pup cup, and took a stroll by the river. Reuben`s FURlough Friend says: `He was amazing at greeting people. He was very good on leash as well. He was very treat motivated, and knew sit. He did no barking at other dogs or small animals. He let strangers pet him. He did great in the car as well. He walked into the river and loved it! He was slightly hesitant at first but eventually he was overjoyed by being in the river and was begging to go deeper.` Reuben sounds like the perfect partner for someone who enjoys hanging at the river during the Sacramento summer and then cuddling up on the couch afterwards!Reuben`s adoption fee has been generously sponsored by Green Acres!I don’t have a history with dogs. He did nothing wrong to land himself on that list, but black dogs tend to get overlooked and adolescent large dogs are the most at-risk. Despite the odds stacked against him, this young, lively boy is so deserving of his second chance. Since coming to live with his foster fam and two furry foster siblings, he has been learning sit, down and stay so far. He’s such a fast learner! His leash skills have greatly improved and he is a joy on his daily walks. He has also been on so many new adventures! He LOVES snow shoeing and hiking with his foster family. From his fosters: He is a great outdoor dog but also an amazing snuggle bug at home. The perfect combo! He’s also fine with a good 15-30 minute walk and can chill out when he gets home. We have been working on crate training and it’s going great! He sleeps in his crate at night and when we are out of the house. Otto loves every single human he meets! He loves to jump and give hugs but we are working on that. He also loves other dogs and gets very excited to see them. With the right introduction, he would do great with a buddy to play with in his new home! He would also be great as an only dog.
