Story
We originally met Tonka a couple years ago when he was rambunctious and rowdy! We are happy to report that he has since learned some manners and taught all the dog things! Tonka was recently returned to the shelter due to his owner`s living situation changing. Tonka is a very good boy. He is potty trained and will whine at the door when he needs to go outside. He is crate trained but was typically left to roam the home when alone and was not known to be destructive! Tonka loves to learn and appreciates keeping his brain active. He knows the cues “sit”, “down”, “off”, “treat”, “come”, “drop”, “fetch” and “heel”. Tonka will thrive best in a home that can provide regular exercise! He loves to go on hikes and being a part of adventures with his family. Tonka is also affectionate and cuddly. The only thing he doesn’t love is nail trims and baths! Tonka is a happy dude who has done great with meeting new people. Tonka should not be adopted into a home with small children. Though he tolerates them, he is uncomfortable around them and prefers to keep his distance. We want to see Tonka succeed out of the shelter in a home that he is comfortable and confident in! Tonka is said to do well with cats and enjoys playing with other dogs. We are more than happy to accommodate a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed!
