Toffee was found very pregnant last November and taken in by our partner rescue, Atchafalaya River Rescue. She gave birth to 8 puppies the next day! After she gave birth she was diagnosed with IMTP, an immune disorder which required treatment with steroids. She has recovered and her last 2 blood tests have been normal. Our vet isn't certain she really had IMTP last fall and recommends re-checking her blood in 6-12 months. Toffee is a happy, sweet and playful girl who loves to run around, especially with another dog! After playing she likes to crash on the couch, preferably on your lap. Toffee has never met a stranger! This super gentle girl is good with everyone... dogs, cats, kids and adults! She can be shy initially, but warms up quickly. Toffee is house trained, crate trained, does well on leash and also in the car. Toffee is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She completed treatment for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption.
