Story
Taco is a 10 month old puppy who was relinquished to our hospital due to an owner not being able to keep him at their house. He is very active, playful, loves to play with other animals just doesn’t really know boundaries. He loves kids, dogs and cats. He is up to date with DAPP, Rabies and bordetella vaccine. He is on flea tick and heart worm prevention, negative for heartworm disease. We are looking for a loving home, who has patience to teach him and play with him. He is semi house trained but since he is crated most of the day at the hospital, he doesn’t pee on wee wee pads all the time.

Story
This adorable boy is Buzz. He is one-year-old and weighs just 25 lb. We think he is a rat terrier mix. Just look at those ears!! Buzz is at a foster home, not at our shelter. His foster says " Buzz has been an easy dog to care for and love. He is friendly, gentle and already housetrained. Buzz enjoys being outside and walks well on a leash. He loves being with people, playing with his toys and having his tummy rubbed." Buzz is going to make someone a great companion! He is fine with other dogs and we can cat-test him if needed. Buzz is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and healthy. His adoption fee is $395. If you would like to meet/adopt Buzz, please complete our online application at https://daws.org/daws-forms Email daws@daws.org if you need assistance or have any questions. Buzz can't wait to meet you!

Story
Hi there, my name is Ivy and I am a pretty 5-year-old, 8 lb Rat Terrier mix with a medium energy level and a go-with-the-flow attitude. I was a “surprise” dog from Houston Texas who stowed away with a group of dogs from a hoarder's home heading to San Antonio for fostering through 4 Little Paws Rescue. I suppose I wasn't wanted by whoever put me on board, so I’m happy for a better opportunity to find a nice forever home! I am a friendly girl but shy at first and once I know you I’m good to go. I am friendly and playful with other dogs, sort of a diva with them, but devoted to some select doggy friends, and sadly my good friend Mitzi passed away recently. I am very loyal to my humans, preferring their company overall, and I don't freak out when my foster mom leaves the house without me. I’m sweet and loving without being slobbery about it or demanding of affection. I’m discovering doggy toys and enjoying hard chew toys like Nylabone. I only bark to alert you about something important and I am already housebroken. I do not like to be kept in a crate, so I am allowed to roam freely in my foster home and sleep in bed with my foster mom each night. Now that I’m spayed, chipped, and fully vaccinated, I am ready to find my future and looking forward to it! I hear the Eastern Seaboard is the place to be, so inquire about me today and bring me home! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Story
Bailey (born 6/20/2015) is an 8-year-old, 14 pound, housebroken, Rat Terrier mix. Because Bailey came from an abuse situation, he has trust issues. If you want to adopt him, you would need to visit with Bailey a few times to become friends and gain his trust. The deal here is that Bailey needs to know you before he can trust you. Once Bailey knows you, he is a very affectionate and loyal friend, but he will also be protective – so he needs to know that you will be the one to protect him. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Bailey, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net. You can give as much or as little as you like. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you! For additional information on the Humane Society of New York, please visit: humanesocietyny.org. Thank you!

Meet Abigail! She is an adorable, sweet, angelic three-year-old rat terrier mix, weighing in at 28 pounds. This smart girl is house-trained and crate-trained.
