Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. I just joined my foster family and we are still getting acquainted with one another. Once they learn more about me, they will add more information here. Meet Bubby. He's a sweet little chihuahua mix pup from Houston, TX. He's looking for a family of his own here in Minnesota when he arrives on 02/08/2025. Bubby would love a home with older kids if any, as he's just a lil bit of a puppy. He'd be ok with dog friendly cats, as he's still just a pup and really doesn't know anything else. As always, with Kitties, we would still encourage slow introductions and making sure the kitties have their own space to escape too. Sometimes puppies can be a lot, and old grouchy kitties need an out.. lol. Bobby would love a family that really wants to make him a part of their lives. He'd love to go on walks (weather permitting) to explore his new surroundings with you.. sniffing all the new smells and just getting acquainted with his new world. He would probably appreciate a sweater or jacket to help him get through these cold winter months, and lets be honest here.. can you think of anything cuter than a puppy in a sweater?? Me. Either. Bubby is not yet potty trained, but no puppy really is. Potty training is really about getting on a schedule and being consistent. Puppies operate on a sleep, eat, play & poop schedule. When your pup wakes up.. take them out. When they get back inside, give them their breakfast and then about 30 minutes after they eat.. back outside again. always making sure that you are giving them enough time outside to do their business, because.. puppies.. they're not known for their "down to business" attitude. Young puppies like Bobby really do need to be let out every hour or so in the beginning. Since we know that people work, and you won't always be home to take him out, let me introduce you to puppy pads. they're not the answer, but they are definitely a useful tool. Bubby is not kennel trained, as he has been kept with his sibling in an Ex Pen (Exercise Pen).. if you choose to kennel train (Which we fully encourage for a multitude of reasons) the best place to start is placing a kennel in the room you spend the most time in. place his bed, a favorite toy, and his food & water bowls in there too. You will feed his meals there, as well as giving any high value treats. When Bubby enters the kennel and seems at ease, close the door for short periods of time.. starting at one minute and working up form there. Soon, his kennel will become his safe space, and you'll find him choosing to hang out there. when it's time to kennel at night, or when you leave for work, placing a light blanket over his kennel should help him to settle and keep him calm. Bobby is just waiting on a home of his own here in Minnesota. If you think that you have the perfect little spot for this cutie to land when he gets here, please fill out an adoption application today! He can't wait to meet you! They arrive in Minnesota on 2/8 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am-12pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
