Story
Gracie is a busy, energetic two year old little lady that was left in the unfortunate position of not having been socialized or properly trained. Her elderly owner passed away and left her very anxious and struggling with the change. She needs a calm, quiet environment, preferably with a female since she is very distrusting of males, and will need structure, exercise, and patience. Gracie is scared of cats and will bark and run at them, and she is sometimes territorial around our chihuahua so she would prefer to be the only pet. She is learning to get over her fears and can be very sweet around a favorite human but will need to continue extensive training before being able to be around others without barking. Potty training is coming along, and she would be amazing at agility or nose work and is great at puzzle toys and games. She absolutely loves to cuddle and burrow under blankets. Gracie is also crate trained and is doing well learning to walk on a leash.

Story
"You wanna live with a Cinnamon Girl, you can be happy for the rest of her life with a Cinnamon Girl"! Inspired by the classic Neil Young song, Arietta is a stunning girl with beautiful cinnamon coloring on a white base and expressive chestnut eyes. At just 1 year-old, she is a vibrant, adventurous soul looking for her furever home. Arietta is the definition of "small, but mighty." Weighing in at only 13 lbs., she is an intelligent, funny, and curious girl who maintains a joyful and puppy-like energy. Whether she is romping through deep snow (no matter how cold it is!) or waiting with barely contained excitement for mealtime, she is always ready for action. Arietta has the cutest prance and moves about the house and yard with a happy facial expression. Darling! She is remarkably athletic and fearless, sometimes running through the house with reckless abandon. She is adept at climbing and jumping and isn't yet leash-trained because of winter weather obstacles, so a very secure backyard fence and gate are a must! She has a fierce prey drive, if it moves, she wants to chase it! Because of this, she cannot live with small companion animals (including cats). Likely an outside dog in her past life, Arietta recently has made huge strides in house-training. While she is finally getting the "knack of it", she still requires a regular schedule of potty breaks to ensure her continued success.  She is an excellent, alert watch dog, but is not a nuisance barker. She will let you know when someone or something is there, then settles down quickly. Arietta is a social butterfly in the canine group, for sure. She bonded with her foster sisters almost immediately and sleeps and plays with her "rattie" roommates. She would be happiest in a home with at least one other doggie companion, no matter how large or small, and someone who is home most of the day. Arietta is a "paws on the ground" kind of girl. She is hand-shy and does not like to be picked up and held. While she has recently started trusting her foster parent to pick her up, it takes time and a gentle touch and coaxing to earn that privilege. Because of her handling preferences, she is best suited for a home with adults and respectful older children who understand she is not a "lap dog" to carry around. She does enjoy sitting by your side on the couch or chair or sleeping next to you under the covers. She will jump up on her own into the chair or onto the bed. Arietta does well in a crate overnight, but much prefers sleeping with her doggie and human friends. Arietta is ready for her next chapter. If you are looking for an adventurous, loving companion, you could be happy for the rest of her life with a "Cinnamon Girl"! Story
My name is Peanut and I'm the sweetest, most affectionate lil' gal this side of the Mississippi! I love, love, LOVE snuggling and giving kisses. I'm an approximately 5 year-old female, predominantly rat terrier but my foster parents think I'm mixed with beagle. I'm currently overweight at 16 lbs. (ideal ~12 lbs.) but working on my summer bod via controlled portions and going on walks. Speaking of walks, I'm an absolute gem on a leash; I don't tug or pull nor am I reactive to other people, dogs, or distractions! Maybe it's these short little legs, but I walk at a very leisurely pace and I'm in no rush to get anywhere. Laid-back couch potato at heart, but I enjoy casual walks around the block and ride well in the car. I would prefer someone who can match my energy with a laidback lifestyle and let me nap next to them during the day and sleep next to them at night. My house-training is stellar; I use a doggy door to go outside when I need to and then come right back in; I'm very efficient! I'm also very trustworthy – my foster parents have never crated me! However, I have no issues with laying on a comfy dog bed in a crate and can often be found snoozing or chilling in there. I'm not a big fan of stairs but will navigate them if they are carpeted or have tread covers. I'm food-motivated and quick to learn! I enjoy playing with and squeaking my toys and occasionally chewing on rubber Nylabones. I do fine with other respectful dogs big or small, but prefer to avoid rambunctious pups. At this point, you must be wondering how a great, mellow dog like me could end up without a home? Sadly, I wound up in a shelter after my elderly owner passed away – but was thankfully pulled for rescue. Despite my loss, I remain sweet and gentle and would make a wonderful companion in a calm, steady home.
