Story
To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Maddie is a 5yo female rat terrier mix who is being surrendered by her owner in Memphis who can no longer care for her. Maddie is twice the size of a rat terrier but that’s what she looks like… a big rat terrier!  Maddie is very affectionate with her people and loves to be close and cuddle. Medium activity level outside, calm inside. She’s fine with other dogs and living happily with another dog in the family. Good with kids and recommended for children 6 years and older.  Fine with cats. Not crated. Housebroken except for rare accidents. Obeys basic commands.  Loves to be with her people.  Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, spayed, weighs about 45 pounds.  Here’s a note from Maddie’s foster mom:  Maddie is as loyal as they come, sweet, affectionate, loves to cuddle and be close to her people. Loves a comfy spot with a pillow. She doesn’t know how to cover herself with blanket/sheet but does enjoy it if you cover her when it’s chilly (fan on, breeze, etc.). If bothered during her slumber, she may growl like a grumpy old lady but just tell her to “hush!” HA! Does not beg for food and will (very happily!) sit for treats & is gentle taking them. She needs to have you within eyesight when she’s eating her food. Loves to play fetch with her toys inside but doesn’t do the same with sticks outside. She’ll chase them but not pick them up & bring them back. Known to take one of your shoes to lay with when alone. Also known to snag a stick of butter off the counter! When left alone, she’ll mind her business and nap, but will definitely be awaiting your return! She’s good taking baths, likes ice cubes (so don’t worry about picking up any you drop!), bully sticks, and LOVES small squeaky toys! Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 11/9 Lucy Luna comes to us as an owner surrender. Her family loved her very much and took excellent care of her. However, a family member has had to move in with them and she is highly allergic to dogs, so they had to give her. They were heart broken and so was Luna. But she is adjusting well and we hope to find her forever home quickly to minimize her transitions. Luna is a fantastic dog! She is everything you could want- friendly, excellent with kids, loves to play with other dogs, doesn't pay cats any mind, house trained, crate trained, loving, playful, great car rider, fully vetted, about a year old and 40 lbs. We do not know her breed. The website makes us pick a breed and according to my phone, she's a Rat Terrier mix...if that's true she's obviously mixed with something a little bigger because she is bigger than a Rat Terrier. She's probably very mixed. There is nothing but good things to say about this beautiful girl. And those eyes! The only thing better than her beautiful eyes is those spectacular ears! Don't miss out on this little gem! She checks all the boxes! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am Fridays Port Jervis, NY 5am Fridays Southington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
