Story
Hi, I`m Susie! Sadly my previous owner passed away, so I was surrendered to the shelter with my friend Rosie. I am an older gal, and quite overweight, so my lifestyle needs to change in order for me to be around as long as possible. I am a very sweet and easygoing pup, and I used to live with a number of dogs, so I would likely enjoy having canine companionship again. I am not sure how I feel about cats but may do well with proper introduction. I have been in a home all my life and I just want somewhere comfortable to spend my golden years. Would you consider adopting me?---If you are interested in adopting, you must complete an application and make an appointment, as I am IN FOSTER CARE. Completed apps includes a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well hellloww world Alvin here.  I'm here with my sissy Ava.  We came from down south and now mom says we are northern implants not sure what that means but ok I'm learning new stuff every day.  We have lots of friends here at the ranch.  We have doxi friends that are a little older than us and mom says to not bark like they do its 'annoying' I'm not sure why she thinks that but I tried it and I thought it was rather fun so we do it when moms not in the room but somehow she always knows and she comes out of her office and gives us 'the look' hmmmm I wonder how she knows??!!!Ava is my bestest friend and we would LOVE to stick together.  Mom says she will find us a furever home with a fenced yard so we can run and play like we do here!  We aren't 'fixed' yet so mom says as soon as we are old enough to have that done we will be ready for our new home.  I didn't know we was broken but I guess I just gotta trust the lady....  I thought maybe we could stay here but she says we will get a home where we can be the center of someones world.  Humans talk funny I have NO clue what that even means!  If you want to meet us fill out an application on 2ndChance4LifeRescue.org site NOT petfinder or anywhere else and we will check it out.  If we think you might be 'our person' we will be in touch for a date :)REQUIRES A FENCED YARDVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

We have sat down with the staff and told them we would like a fenced yard when we are adopted :)  2nd Chance has promised we will not go to a one dog household we want another small dog to play with if we can't stay together! Story
NAME: Bandit BREED: Pug Mix BIRTHDAY: 2018 WEIGHT: 20lbs ADOPTION FEE: $300 &#226&#128&#139 Bandit spent this summer tied outside. That alone was reason enough for us to help him, but there was a bonus attached to this rescue: we were able to save Bandit's "sister" Tinkerbell as well. Bandit is in much better shape than little old Tink, who was actually living indoors, but he did need some work to get him healthy and ready for adoption. His skin and coat are not great, but we think that's just a result of malnutrition and he didn't require medications like Tink. He had no vaccines and tested positive for Lyme disease, but he was a model patient at the vet and we've got him vaxed and on meds for Lyme (which will go home with him). Overall, Bandit is in good health and just needs some work on re-socializing: he's amazing with people and is excited to meet new friends, but he does need some reminders about how to play nicely with his canine friends. He would be just fine as an only dog, where he could have all the toys and laps to himself, but he is safe around other animals with a savvy owner. In the few weeks we've had him, Bandit has already made improvements and is learning to share and play nicely. He gets the zoomies and races all over the yard, and loves to wrestle with his foster mom. Although he can be a bit mouthy, especially when he's excited, Bandit is very gentle and would likely do well with polite children. He is doing well with house training, rides very nicely in the car, pulls on leash but is happy to go for walks. He does not bark much and his listening skills get a B+.  &#226&#128&#139 Bandit is not an escape artist, but since he is a runner we are recommending a fenced yard for him. If there are young children in the home, a fence is required for his safety. We are looking for a home where someone will be with him most of the day, as he is sad to be left home alone; maybe he remembers the time he spent tied up by himself. Overall Bandit is a fun, goofy, sweet, snuggly fellow who deserves better than the bare minimum his last owner provided. He is ready for a family who will love him forever!
