Story
TIKKI - 2 years, 18lbs, Puggle, Spayed  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Parent Says: "Meet Tiki! This sweet girl is finding her confidence on the bustling streets of New York. Tiki is a high-jumping fetch enthusiast who is adjusting to city life well so far. Tiki is fully potty trained, crate trained, and a super fast learner who wants a hello from everyone she meets on the street. Tiki loves giving kisses and is always ready for a snuggle. She’s great with cats and dogs. Tiki would benefit from basic training and structure, but her eagerness to learn will make it a rewarding journey. Whomever adopts this sweet angel will be so lucky as Tiki is ready to find a forever home where she can continue to blossom and bring endless love and joy!" BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup. MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug LevelHigh -- Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time Potty TrainedYes -- Few or no accidents Comfy with strangers?Yep -- Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Comfortable with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision)Yes for 12 and up -- may be a little energetic or a little skittish, best with older children that can be extra gentle or that are big enough not to get accidentally knocked down Social with Other Dogs?Yes -- Good with all other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other caninesRespectful of Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.)Yes -- okay to live in a home with a cat. One of her foster parents had a cat in the home :)  Mouth Behaviour Low – Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime, doesn’t wreck your stuff -- only chews on appropriate things like dog toys and bones. Leash Manners?Getting the Hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in its life but he/she is figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction. Okay in the city?Yes -- Seems unfazed by the sights and sounds, they may as well have been born here.Jumping on People to Say Hi?High – Very excited to greet everyone and has no idea how to do so politely. Jumps up on most strangers or other dogs that go by. In puppy phase or wasn’t trained as a young adult. Separation Anxiety?Low – Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn’t cry or do anything shitty when you leave the apartment or house. Crate training?Yep/mostly – Seems comfortable in the crate, may whine a little at first but settles pretty quickly. We use the crate when we leave the pup alone and/or at night. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
I inherited my mother's beloved dog, Larry, after she passed away. At first, having him with me was comforting, a reminder of the happy times we shared. But as the months went on, I realized I couldn't provide the attention and care he deserved. My busy life and limited space make it difficult to give him what he needs,. He's used to having someone home all the time, and he's a literal lap dog, something I don't allow. With a heavy heart, I know it's time to find him a loving home where he can thrive.

Story
Howdy folks, my name is Chorizo, and I was one of 13 dogs and puppies living in a San Antonio Texas home when our owner passed away. Her grown daughter was surprised to find us all and reached out to 4 Little Paws Rescue for help, and they did! We all went to various foster homes, all vaccinated, all microchipped, the adults spayed/neutered, and now most of us are ready to find forever families! I am a handsome Pug mix, about 2 years old, weigh 27 lbs and I’m a lover boy. If I can climb into your lap or snuggle beside you, I will kiss you to my heart's content! My foster mom says I’m sweet and friendly, a bit shy when I meet new people, and friendly with other dogs. I love to play with humans, dog toys, and some other dogs, preferring to choose my doggy playmates. I’m well-behaved, only bark to alert, and I am working on some housebreaking skills and doing well. I’m just a very nice dog and I’m ready to find my future. I hear the Eastern Seaboard is the place to be, so inquire about me today and bring me home! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.
