Story
Manchas means spots, but also light of spirit, light-hearted. That epitomizes this 1 year old pug who has endured and overcome so much in his brief life without losing his loving, gentle nature. His original owner surrendered him to a local vet to be euthanized because he couldn't afford the much-needed surgery to remove Manchas' damaged and infected left eye. The vet accepted the dog & contacted GDR who gladly welcomed him. Manchas has healed from his surgery & his heart & spirit have healed as well. He is tiny-only 13 pounds, likes toys, other small dogs, cats, and most especially, cuddling with humans. He places his paws on anyone seated & gazes up at them, asking for "uppies." He gladly settles in against your chest, a paw on each side of your neck, making soft grunts of pleasure until he falls asleep. He does startle at loud noises, hinting at traumas in his past, so an ultra noisy household isn't his vibe. Are you the right person or family to continue his second life where he will know only love, security, and joy? Attributes: Crate trained 90% housebroken (suspect he used to be an outdoor dog) A true cuddle bug Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

Story
We are pleased to introduce Freddie into rescue! Freddie is a 2.5 year old neutered pug. He was rescued on the Mexican boarder by The Pug Queen in Southern California. Fred was an absolute dream on the flight to Buffalo! The flight crew and his seat mates didn't even know he was there because of how quiet and mellow he was. He is great with young children and other dogs, but he has not been tested with cats. Fred is currently being fostered with another young (unaltered) male dog, so there has been a little challenge with "marking". He does a good job of going potty outside as long as someone takes him out every few hours. He walks well on a leash too! Fred just wants to snuggle. On the couch, recliner, or wherever you are is where he wants to be. He does not like to be crated at night, but will settle eventually. Freddie would do best in a home that allows him to cuddle up in bed with his human at night. During Fred's wellness visit, it was determined that he will need an eye ointment daily for the foreseeable future, to help with tear production. He has luxating patellas (knee caps) and although many pugs live their whole lives this way without surgical intervention- it is important for his forever family to be aware of this and to have xrays done to understand what to expect for his future. With that being said, he does not have any mobility struggles, he loves to run around and play with his foster mom! He will be eligible for adoption in late November. Do you think you you could be Freddie's forever family? Apply today!Freddie is being fostered in BuffaloFreddie's adoption donation is $650.00

Story
Howdy folks, my name is Cashew and I am a male Pug pup, about 8 months old, 10 lbs, and I was living in Bastrop Texas with my mama and sister when our owner surrendered us to the local animal shelter. Sadly we were in horrid condition, with nearly complete hair loss, severely crusty eyes, and my eyes were ulcerated, so it was a happy day when they sent us to foster homes so we could begin the months-long recovery and you should see us now. We are gorgeous! Healthy and happy, and ready to find forever homes, although I may need to have eye meds for the rest of my life. My foster mom says I am a sweet boy with lots of energy, friendly with everyone, kids, cats, dogs, strangers, everyone! I have a happy and outgoing personality, playful and fun, I love doggy treats and puppy toys. I am well-behaved, rarely bark, I’m housebroken, love going for walks, and don't mind being in a crate. I’m just grateful and nothing these days gets me down. I know my future looks bright and I am so looking forward to finding a wonderful home and hear the Eastern Seaboard is the place to be. Inquire about me today and bring me home! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

My foster mom says I am a sweet, easygoing, medium-energy girl, friendly with everyone, kids, cats, dogs, strangers, everyone! I have a very calm nature just like my mom, and love doggy treats and puppy toys. I am well-behaved, rarely bark, I’m housebroken, love going for walks, and don't mind being in a crate. I’m just grateful and patient, affectionate, kind, and nothing these days gets me down. Story
TIKKI - 2 years, 18lbs, Puggle, Spayed  This dog is joining Social Tees on 11/16 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup. MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
