Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Meet Auggie Auggie is seeking a local, adult only home with a fenced yard and a similarly sized playmate! Auggie is an adorable 6.5 yr old, 15 lb Pug/Chihuahua mix who was picked up a stray and never reclaimed. He was highly stressed in the shelter and we didn’t hesitate to pull him when his time was up. Auggie is a sweet silly boy, a definite lap dog and does expect full furniture privileges. He loves toys! He enjoys going for walks and rides in the car. Auggie loves to play with other similar sized energetic dogs but is intimidated by bigger dogs. He is looking for a home with another small dog and will not be placed in a home with big dogs! . Older dogs may not appreciate his enthusiasm. He does okay with a dog savvy cat but for cats not used to dogs he would not be a good fit. Auggie is a resource guarder and because of this he will not be placed in a home with children. He has super sensitive hearing and will protect you from the UPS truck so apartment living is not in his future! Auggie is crate trained and housetrained. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, HW tested negative and on prevention. He does need to lose a couple pounds. I think I can speak for both us when I say we are grateful to now be part of the MM family! I’m enjoying spreading all the love around to the volunteers at the shelter, and I am now ready to bring lots of joy to my new home! Let’s meet and see if we are the perfect match for a life of love and fun! You’ll notice, I’ve been fed too much in the past, so I’m on the green bean diet and would like my family to help me shed some weight. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and – though just a little shy and shut down at the time we met – I did fine. I DID come in with another dog that I liked, so if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a super sweet girl who can be a bit shy initially, but my calm and loving nature begins to emerge once I know you are my friend. I’ve done best on my walks when the volunteers take a moment to sit down with me and talk calmly to me. It seems to build my confidence for the walk, and then I do well on my leash. I was relaxed and calm during my bath – seeming to look at it as a big adventure. My sweet face and cute underbite will bring a smile to your face – every time. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘come’ and ‘drop it’ commands, and I look forward to learning more. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been very good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I’m all about the love once I know we are buddies. Your calm words of encouragement will help me continue to grow my confidence, so let’s hang out together and have some nice ‘conversations’ – with some cuddles and kisses thrown in. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m taking a good over-the-counter Cosequin tablet as I have a mild luxating patella in my right rear knee – grade 2. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.
