Story
Georgia is a beautiful and sweet as can be Pug / Chihuahua mix (according to New Mexico veterinarians. She likely has multiple breeds in her. All we know is that this little girl is irresistible!) We also know that Georgia deserves far better then being turned into an overcrowded shelter where euthanasia is often inevitable.
Georgia is 1 year old and 24 lbs. (She is a dainty, small girl, with long legs. Her exact weight is 24.6 lbs). Georgia is a great family dog, as she absolutely loves kids! (She has not been tested with kids under 7, but does amazing with kids 7+ and would love a home with some kiddos).
From Georgia's foster:
"This dog LOVES the kids! She was super timid of my husband at first, but after the first week she now LOVES him!!! From the beginning she was great with me and absolutely love love loves the kids! She also does great with our dogs. What a sweet, small girl!
She has settled in so well and is such a great, silly, sweet dog!! She is playful and cuddly and so sweet. She is also potty trained!!!"
Georgia’s journey began in New Mexico when her previous owners decided she should “be an outside dog.” But Georgia had other ideas. She didn’t enjoy being left outside, especially in cold weather, and soon figured out how to jump the fence to seek warmth and safety. Time after time, Georgia would make her way to a neighbor’s house, only to be returned and left outside again. Eventually, her owners gave up on her and surrendered her to the shelter.
This resilient and clever girl is now looking for a family who will cherish her and provide the warmth and love she craves. Due to her history of fence-jumping, Georgia would thrive in a home without a yard or one where she’s supervised while outside, ideally on a leash until she feels fully secure with her new family. A home without a doggy door or the practice of leaving dogs outside unattended is also a must for her.
Georgia may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog but with love and patience, she will absolutely shine. We envision sweet Georgia with a family who works from a home-based office. This arrangement would be perfect to love Georgia up periodically throughout the day. A friendly and gentle canine friend would be great as well. Georgia would enjoy the companionship and play / cuddle times with a furry best friend.
Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement / force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Georgia out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this important training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual or in-person trainers in your area.
Georgia has been fully vetted, is up to date on her vaccines, and being spayed this week to get ready for her forever home.
Georgia is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this super-sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Georgia, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue
