Story
I'm a lovely senior guy with one-eye, who hasn't met a person yet that I don't like. I will need to stay with my buddy Ben. We are Ben & Jerry forever! I'm 25 pounds of joy. I am crate trained, know some basic commands, and love to go on walks. I am a bit overweight, but my foster is working hard to rectify that much to my disappointment, because I like cookies a lot. I like to snuggle and get pretty excited when the butt scratches begin, spinning around and begging for more. I get along well with other dogs, in fact, my best buddy, Ben, and I are a package deal when it comes to finding a new forever home as we are pretty bonded. I am definitely the more confident part of the Ben and Jerry package. I am respectful of other dogs when they tell me off...I can be a little pushy but know when to back off. I have been living with several cats and I don't pay them any attention. I'm not sure I like children, but I'm sure older children (8yrs+), who could be respectful of my older age would be fine. I don't play too much with toys, but I do like chewing on cow hooves and other appropriate chews. My ideal home would be where I would get lots of butt scratches, attention, walks, and of course cookies. My adoption fee includes a training program specific for my needs.

Story
Caesar was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2261238##

Story
Dougal is a four year old purebred pug with tons of energy and cuddles to give. He is very food motivated and loves to be the center of attention. Dougal has never met a person or other pet he does not want to be friends with. He loves walks, treats, cuddles, and more treats. We are only looking to rehome him due to a busy schedule and not being able to give him the attention he deserves. Dougal does need some extra training when it comes to going outside to go to the bathroom but can be easily trained. He is slightly food possessive but that is the only time he gets vocal. He would make a great addition to any family that has the time. Please research pugs and their needs before inquiring. Rehoming fee is flexible to the right person.

Story
Hello, my name is Lila.  I am a sweet little lady that loves to be held and carried around.  When I am not being held, I love to play with my brother.  I am a little nervous around the bigger house dogs, but can you blame me, they are 10 times my size.  I am good at leaving house cats alone and would actually like to be friends with them because they are my size.  I need some help with potty training,  but I am working on it with my foster.  I am a little nervous on my walks since the world outside is so big compared to my size, so I like to stay close to those I know.  I would love to be your snuggle buddy, come meet me at the Petco adoptions events. ##2223178##

Story
Dewie is a 6-year-old purebred male pug that I purchased from a breeder. He is sweet, snuggly, playful, silly little pug. He's generally pretty quiet, but howls at emergency vehicles. Dewie is such a cutie. The issue that I'm having is, Dewie is frequently exhibits territory marking. It seems to be triggered by anxiety and/or the presence of my senior male dog. Despite my best efforts to remedy the problem, every thing I've tried has been unsuccessful. Dewie is wonderful dog and deserves people that are patient and equipped to handle his needs.
