Story
6 years old, 12.5 pounds Personality:protective, gentle, playful, affectionate, energetic, loyal, calm, and snuggler. Meet Pixie, a tiny Pomeranian with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This little lady will just melt in your arms and give the sweetest and tiniest kisses! She’s affectionate, loyal, and happiest when cuddled up somewhere warm and cozy (usually on top of a pillow or blanket). Pixie loves meeting new people, and she gets so excited when new guests arrive. Although she's a social butterfly, she also loves her “me” time and will spend it happily strolling outside, chewing on a toy, or napping in a comfy spot. She’s gentle with children. Pixie is trusted uncrated and doing well with house training. She gets along well with one of the dogs in her foster home, but needs to learn how to meet dogs while on leash walks. Pixie has been an excellent mama to her five puppies. Now that she's done raising them, she is ready to be the star in a loving home of her own. If you’re looking to add a small, snuggly companion to your life, Pixie might be your gal. Apply today to meet Pixie! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. Story
Harvey resembles a ripe peach. He is sweet, fuzzy, orange, and sort of round. He is a great companion: quiet, charming, and handsome. He has one wonky ear that points sideways, while the other points up. Harvey is an excellent car buddy, settling himself quietly on his booster seat and paying close attention to be sure that the his foster mom is following the GPS and driving safely. He is happy to snooze on a dog bed while his human works, watches TV, or sleeps. During meals, he stands quietly, not begging but just hoping for a lucky piece of chicken to fall. Harvey gets along with other dogs and does not try to steal anyone else's food or guard his own. He is curious about cats but not aggressive. (He may be tired of being bullied by the cat in his foster home, however.) Harvey likes receiving pets and scratches and will respond with gentle kisses. He likes to have some lap time every day, but he isn't demanding about it. Five minutes or so at a time is sufficient. In terms of housetraining, he seems to understand that, in a perfect world, pottying should take place outside. That said, if no one is home (or not paying attention), he will do what he needs to do. Fortunately, he is potty pad trained and accepting of wearing belly bands when needed. If his human is home a lot and paying attention, he likely wouldn't need either. Harvey enjoys slow walks or sniffaris around the backyard (except in the rain). He likes to smell the wind and listen to the birds. He appears to have passing familiarity with commands such as come/let's go/follow me, as well as leave it and no/nope. Harvey has an enlarged heart and a heart murmur which will require ongoing medication and periodic vet visits. He has a bit of a related cough, for which he also takes medication, which seems to help. Harvey has cataracts that render him substantially blind. He does not let that stop him from getting around. He wanders confidently around the house and in the yard. He is very good about following a voice to get around and also enjoys exploring on his own. He can go up a small number of stairs, but would prefer to have help going down. He does not love being picked up but will tolerate it for reasonable periods of time if it helps him get where he needs to go. Harvey is a delight to have around. If you're looking for a quiet, orange shadow, come meet him soon! Harvey is approx 9 years old and 12 lbs. fostered in Falls Church, VA please apply at mirishaven.org

Story
Meet Brady! Little sprite Brady moves through the world like a very small, very serious butler who has sworn a personal oath to keep track of his human. Brady’s life changed when his mom’s dementia progressed and he suddenly found himself in a new house with new people. At first he was unsure, but once he realized meals were predictable, hands were gentle, and no one expected him to be anything other than himself, he settled in and let his personality blossom. If you get up, Brady also needs to get up. If you wander into another room, Brady follows ~ fluffy and businesslike. If you disappear upstairs, Brady will climb the steps to investigate, conducting a quiet wellness check to confirm that his person has not vanished into the abyss known as the attic. He believes in order, routine, and that someone who can tell time should absolutely remind you when it is time to eat. Brady will do this work politely at first, then with the quiet determination of a small creature who has appointed himself Head of Household Scheduling. Brady loves slow approaches, long massages, and thoughtful head scratches. He prefers calm connection over chaos. He isn’t a fan of abrupt handling and is a bit sensitive about his back and hind legs, but he communicates clearly and does beautifully with humans who listen. Brady is housetrained, but will also use pee pads, rides well in the car, and can stay home alone without anxiety. He gets along nicely with other dogs, ignores the cat entirely, and prefers a peaceful environment where life is predictable and kind. Older, respectful children are perfectly fine ~ Brady simply appreciates a gentle approach. Brady is looking for a soft landing after losing his lifelong home through no fault of his own. He just wants a calm house, a steady routine, and one person to quietly attach himself to again. His favorite activities are calm walks, sniffing around the yard, and spending quiet time near his people. He’s housetrained, will also use pee pads, rides well in the car, and can stay home alone without anxiety. He gets along well with other dogs, ignores the cat, and prefers a peaceful, consistent environment over chaos (fenced-in yard a plus!). Older, respectful children are fine; unpredictable handling is not his style. Medically, Brady takes medication for a heart murmur and eats a prescription diet to support his liver. His murmur will need monitoring, and he’ll need a dental in the future once he’s cleared for anesthesia. Otherwise, he is happily busy managing his most important job ~ being someone’s devoted little shadow. If you’ve ever wanted a polite assistant who follows you everywhere and takes meal scheduling extremely seriously, Brady may be ready to start work immediately. Brady is approximately 13 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Baltimore, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org
