PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK - WE CANNOT RESPOND TO INQUIRIES SENT VIA ADOPTAPET WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. MEET PETE the PEEKAPOM North New Jersey This adorable little boy with the cutest little toopheses you've ever seen is a black with white mask and toes, male Pekingese – Pomeranian mix (PeekaPom), 13 lbs., and around 6-7 years old. He is a FUN and FUNNY little guy. He LOVES to play with toys, dogs, you, whatever, he's not fussy. He tosses his toy around in the air and then jumps to catch it himself! He will chase a tossed ball for as long as you'll throw it. And he will entertain himself in general sniffing around, chewing on a nylabone, or taking naps in the sun. He is a VERY affectionate little guy and has done well learning boundaries while here. He is now quite independent and has learned the routine. In fact, sometimes his foster mom has to drag him out of the bedroom to come outside with the others! He sleeps on a doggie bed next to his foster mom’s bed at night but would definitely LOVE to sleep in bed with his person. He snuggles on the couch while watching tv, etc. He has a blast playing with the other pups in his foster home so would be nice for him to have another fur friend to play with but it is not necessary as long as he has a human around for most of the day. He is more of the submissive type and is afraid of alpha bullies. So no mean doggies in his new home! He is also afraid of small children so tweenagers and up please. His xrays were normal, blood work was good, physical exam perfect, and he had a dental. He was extremely well behaved at the vet and groomer. He will need eye drops for dry eye and eye pressure for life. He is UTD, HW negative, neutered, dewormed, dental, housebroken, and full of love. Adoption donation is $450. TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION We only process complete applications and providing false information immediately disqualifies you from adopting. https://gingerbreaddogs.org/adopt-overview/adoption-application/ Please follow our Facebook page to see new dogs as they arrive and to keep up on the daily shenanigans: https://www.facebook.com/gingerbreaddogs ABOUT OUR PROCESS: WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. We typically get in touch within 24-48 hours, but it may take up to 10 days. Please watch your email and answer your phone (from 201 area code) after you submit an application. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants. We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page. PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with us, we will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey, and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is “first qualified, first come” and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue, and we reserve the right to deny adoption at any point during the process.

Story
Leo has come out of his shell and is a really fun active little ball of energy! This 1 year old Pom/Toy Aussie? has some initial stranger danger and is alert to his surroundings with a deep scary sounding watchdog bark. But he warms up quickly for treats and squeaky toys and is a lovable little Velcro dog once he bonds. He’s athletic, smart and attentive to his person and would probably be a great agility dog, hiking companion, or just all around best friend. Not a couch potato, he will definitely cuddle but not until he’s gotten his exercise and playtime. He’s under 15lbs, neutered, updated on shots, and ready to find his forever home where he will continue to be socialized to new people and places in a postive way. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Leo and his fluffy lion 🦁 mane in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Possum showed up at a high kill shelter in Texas with a broken leg - mostly likely hit by a car. Despite that, she is very sweet. She is now in a Northstar foster home in Texas so we can get her the medical attention she needs. The priority will be repairing her leg, of course.    Possum is 7 years old and 12 pounds. She has a heart murmur but doesn’t require medicine at this time.    If you want to bring into your life a little dog who really needs your love and spoiling, please consider Possum. If you would like to meet her, please fill out an adoption application to adopt this little nugget at www.northstarpets.org and ask for POSSUM TX.  January 20, 2025, 4:46 pm

Story
Meet Rabbit.... What a Tiny girl.... We heard this sweet girl was sold to 2 different pet stores and both stores rejected her. When she was younger, she had alot of hair loss and was pretty malnourished as a pup. Her look was definitely " off " to some. The mill took the time to get her healthier along with hair growth. One Paw covered the expensive's for this and she now was ready to come in on transport. Rabbit is very tiny. She is a 4.5 month old female Pomeranian / Toy / Mini Poodle. She is 3/4 poodle and only 1/4 Pomeranian. We actually don't see any Pomeranian in her at all. She looks like a straight toy poodle. I would consider her fully hypoallergenic. Her current weight is around 3 pounds, we estimate her full growth weight to be around 10 pounds. She has a very tight curl. Rabbit still needs to gain some weight, we are feeding her 3x a day with wet food. She is very sweet, loves to be held, she basically loves everyone she meets, including dogs. We will not place her in a home with young kids or large dogs in the home. Using a wee wee pad and the outdoors for potty training. Being fostered in Butler NJ. Send an email to Onepawatatimerescue@gmail.com and request an application ** Thats the only way to get an application Adoption fee $950 We adopt in the Tri State Area ONLY NY, NJ, PA, CT, DE, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT

Story
Meet Charlotte (aka Charlie)!  This little lady is an adorable 7 year old Pomeranian mix (our best guess). She is a little plump right now at 16lbs. Charlie was surrendered by her owner for unknown reasons and is a little nervous with the recent changes to her world. Despite her worries, she is polite, friendly and eager to follow her new human friends around the house, especially if they’re providing treats and scratches. She enjoys hanging on the couch with her people and napping comfortably throughout the day.    Charlie is great on the leash, is crate trained, housebroken on a schedule and sleeps well throughout the night. She doesn’t mind other dogs but prefers having some personal space and time to relax. Based on her calm personality, we think she would likely leave cats alone and prefer a kid-free home.  She would enjoy a quiet home and a family who will be dedicated to getting her down to a healthy weight.   If you are interested in this little girl, who would love to settle into a forever family who will truly keep her forever, please email us at almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com.  (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 11, 2025, 4:51 pm
