Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
DOB 8-14-2024 Kelly is adorable, sweet and social. She loves to play, gets along with the others and likes her toys. Kelly's adoption fee is 850.00 and her transport fee is 165.00. Kelly is up to date on all medical for her age and will come with a complete set of paperwork. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fostering is a very important part of rescue because it allows more animals to be saved. There is a capacity on how many dogs Peace Love & Poms Rescue can have at one time and sadly we can’t save every dog that needs our help. Every foster home that welcomes a foster dog, opens a space at the rescue so that another dog can be saved.  Fostering also provides an in-home experience, which makes the dog that much more adaptable.  Fostering is extremely rewarding and you are helping to save innocent lives.  PA Kennel License 17652 Lebanon, PAVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 12:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Pogo is a stunning black and tan Pomsky who has found himself in several homes in his short life. In one home he did have a shock collar used which left him with a wound on his neck that has long since healed. He is 3 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Pogo takes time to adjust to a new home and new people so you must have patience during the transition phase. He will also need a spot that is his safety zone whether a crate or room that is designated for him to use when he gets scared or overwhelmed. This provides a healthy way for him to leave situations and calm himself. This boy is smart and HIGHLY ENERGETIC! Pogo does require a fenced yard as he needs a space to burn off his energy. He would be perfect for competitive agility or lure coursing because he is fast, healthy, and agile. Pogo needs a very active home that will fulfill his physical and mental needs. This boy is also HILARIOUS! He is so quirky, fun, and is sure to make you laugh everyday. Pogo is great with other playful dogs too; he plays just right with the super small furkids and the big furkids like him. He also loves to get the other dogs to chase him, that is his happiest time when he is in the lead with dogs on his heals. The downside to Pogo is he has a lack of impulse control so he likes to get into things (this is a work in progress), but a quick squeak of a ball and toss, he will drop what he is doing to fetch. He is also reactive to new people which is all vocal, but it can be scary for the person so he will need continued socialization and positive reinforcement to overcome his fear. In fact, once he bonds to his human he listens well and focuses on them which makes for a great time being out and about without him having issues. He is great for grooming with a little calming medication and the same for vet visits. He does enjoy car rides, and he has learned how to use a crate properly too. So if you are looking for a wild child, who needs a little help broadening his horizon then Pogo is the boy for you! We have sure enjoyed having him here in rescue, but it is time for him to find his forever home... To adopt Pogo, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), bloodwork, fecal, microchip, neuter, and all the love and laughs you can handle!
