Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Sissie is an absolute love bug that thinks if 1 minutes goes by without being held, that is 1 minute too many! This little social butterfly weighs 5 pounds and knows that is just the perfect size for canine arm candy. She was born 11/19/21. Sissie is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, had a dental, tested heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea & tick prevention to maintain her good health. Due to her small size she will not be considered for homes with small children. Sissie is located in Arkansas. Her adoption donation is $800 plus a $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Sissie please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. href="http://dhd.coffeecup.com/forms/bhsapp/">You can find a copy of that application here. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer will contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Oakley is a very social, sweet, adorable little male Pomeranian that loves to be held and loves to snuggle. This 5-pound little guy was born on 11/19/21. He was born with malformed knees, also called stifles, which cause him to move with somewhat lowered hindquarters like he is getting ready to sit or squat. However, this does not slow him down and when he hears his name called, he comes running. Oakley is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, had a dental, tested heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea & tick prevention to maintain his good health. Due to his small size he will not be considered for homes with small children. Oakley is located in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $600 and the transport fee is $165. Story
Stop, look, listen! Ransom is adorable! But he is only available to someone who has extensive experience with dogs who have Ransom's behavior issues. Yes, he's as soft as a stuffed toy and just as cute and is a very smart, affectionate little guy. But he's quirky. Originally aged at 12 years old by the shelter where he was turned in as a stray, we agree with our vet team that he’s more likely about 8 years old. Ransom loves to keep watch over the neighborhood as much as he loves being cuddled. He’ll use his paw to pull your hand to his face to stroke him. We initially thought he needed to be an only pet but since he was neutered, he is doing much better. We have taken things very slowly with him and the other dogs here. When he first met the other dogs, he was territorial and showed resource guarding towards humans. We have worked with him and he has made great progress. He learns quickly and really wants to please. He knows sit, wait, watch, and come, walks nicely on the leash and is perfectly crate and house trained. Ransom needs a very special adopter. Please read our Senior Moments post to learn about him: https://www.flfosenioranimals.org/post/ransom-notes FLFO requires a home visit therefore adopters must be within 40 miles of Baldwin MD. Thank you for understanding.

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Geneva came into rescue as a stray that nobody has ever claimed. She was found dodging traffic and thankfully a kind person was able to scoop her up before she got hit. The finder happened to bring her to one of our wonderful fosters who took her in. She has reached out to vets, shelters, and even the agency for the aging, in hopes of finding her owner's but no such luck. We will be getting her vaccinated, spayed, etc. and then she'll be ready for adoption. We believe she is a purebred Pomeranian. She appears to be a young adult and weighs 12 pounds. She is completely housetrained. She is friendly. She is good with other dogs. She's a great little dog! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fostering is a very important part of rescue because it allows more animals to be saved. There is a capacity on how many dogs Peace Love & Poms Rescue can have at one time and sadly we can’t save every dog that needs our help. Every foster home that welcomes a foster dog, opens a space at the rescue so that another dog can be saved.  Fostering also provides an in-home experience, which makes the dog that much more adaptable.  Fostering is extremely rewarding and you are helping to save innocent lives.  PA Kennel License 17652 Lebanon, PAVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 12:46 pm
