Say hello to Marco! Marco is a male Pointer/hound mix that weighs around 55 pounds and is approximately 1 year old. Marco was found in the Metroparks with adoptable dog Polo and both were brought to the shelter. No one claimed him. Marco was very dirty, thin, and not in the best of health. After a few weeks at the shelter with some good food and TLC, Marco is coming out of his shell. He is shy but full of love. He would benefit from having a patient adopter willing to help him build his confidence. We do believe Marco is dog friendly. As always, a meet and greet with any resident dog is required to make sure everyone gets along. Marco will need help with leash manners because he can pull a little on leash. He has a medium energy level. Once in a home and after his body begins to heal, we believe that Marco will turn into a different more confident dog. Continued socialization will be essential for Marco. Marco will do anything for food so training and socialization should be a breeze. Marco absolutely loves his time with the volunteers even if it is just sitting on a park bench. Compatibility with children and felines is unknown. He is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes vetting which includes updated vaccines, neuter, microchip, and heartworm testing. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Marco. Marco’s adoption fee is $160.

Meet Patches O'Houlihan!! She came in as a stray on 9/10/24 with another dog, but that dog was redeemed by its owner. They must have met up on their adventure. We think she is about 2 years old. She is a happy girl and a big girl too. She is strong on leash and she wants to go where she wants to go. She will benefit from some training. She knows how to sit and shake and she kept acting like she was waiting on the command to roll over. She obviously was a good companion to someone in the past. Patches O'Houlihan is spayed, heartworm negative and has her rabies vaccination. She is available for adoption so hurry in to meet her! Meet Grace! This sweet girl has not had the easiest life. Her pregnant mama was found on the street and after she gave birth to Grace and her 9 siblings, they were all taken to a high kill shelter and slated for euthanasia. The whole family then made their way to the rescue in search of their happily ever afters. Unfortunately, Grace was the last of her litter to be adopted and still hasn't found her forever family. Grace is as smart as she is beautiful. She is also very athletic and would likely excel at agility or other active sports. Grace loves people and has reacted positively to other dogs. One thing she does not love is being crated. It brings her great anxiety. When allowed to free roam, Grace is well behaved and polite. Grace is looking for a loving family that will truly be her forever family. Could it be you?
