Story
AGE: Mature adult 10 years old - FemaleCHARACTERISTICS:good with dogs and older kids, mellow, very happyBREEDS: Good question! COAT LENGTH - mediumHi I am Sammy. They say I am a 10 year old dog but I don't believe them. I think I might only be 8 or maybe even 6 as I still have some good energy! I enjoy playing in the yard with my husky fursister. We play and play and play. I do like to be the alpha her but she is a husky and can outrun me!! My foster mom has a doggy door which is really nice as I can go outside any time I need to potty. See I was an outside dog all my life and I'm not catching on to not pottying wherever I want so I might have an accident in the house as I don't know any better. We are working on it but having a doggy door helps me as I can just run outside quick and take care of business. I enjoy hanging out wherever you are, by your feet while you watch TV, by your feet in the bathroom, under your feet while you cook, I will be there wherever you may go. My foster mom calls me her shadow. And watch out for my tail as it never stops wagging. I am always very happy to see people and will come right up to you to get lots of pets, I may even lay down and let you rub my belly!! Do you have another dog? I would really love to have another dog in the house. It helps keep me calm if you leave. I don't like to be alone. When you leave you can put me in my kennel and I will be very quiet as long as the other dog is there with me. I might be a candidate for just hanging out without a kennel, but not free roaming of the house......yet.So here is my list of requests - another dog to hang with and play with, a doggy door with a fenced in yard, somebody to pet me and rub my belly, and pet me and rub my belly some more. FROM THE FOSTER: Don't worry about dusting those low shelves, Sammy's tail will dust it for you as her tail never stops wagging. Also don't leave any food towards the front of the counters, it will disappear! I would definitely recommend a doggy door so she can go outside whenever she needs, This has almost eliminated accidents in the house. I have taken her to work and we had to take her outside alot or we had accidents. She loved everybody she met at the office and would right up to them to get petted.Oh and you ask what breed is Sammy? Well lets see, she has a beard so that could be German Wirehaired Pointer, or Airedale, or Schnauzer, or Bearded Collie, or Griffon. But her body has traits of a great dane, she has large paws, but she's not really tall, her coat is medium length and she does shed. SInce we are unsure of her breed, I call her a hotdish -- just an assortment of joy and love!!Good girl. Always lived as an outside dog. We are looking for a caring home for her. She's affectionate, likes people, lived with smaller children. Does not like catsWas an owner surrender.Adoption fee $250 plus tax____Please Note: We ask that an application be filled out before coming to the shelter. Story
Hi- I’m Bailey, and I am a BIG beautiful baby!  I have the sweetest eyes, beautiful soft ears, and extra long legs.  Here are some things you should know about me: Breed mix – Best guess is Great Dane, Hound, Pointer and/or possibly Great Pyrenees- a big mix! Age – about 6 months – date of birth 5/9/24 Weight – last official weight was 45 lbs at the beginning of October.  I am a skinny, lanky girl right now, but once I fill out, I am going to be a large to extra-large sized dog when full-grown. Activity level – medium –  I do have bursts of goofy, clumsy energy that make my foster family laugh.  I love to wrestle with the other dogs in my home, but I also like to snuggle with my humans, or lounge around on a comfy bed or couch. Things I like to do- I am a pretty chill girl during the day and hang out on my bed while my mom works.  I am submissive with other dogs, but once I am comfortable I love to play with them.  I like to sniff around in the back yard, and I like chewing on bones and sticks.  I love food, and my food motivation will make it fun to work on training with me. Kennel-  I sleep quietly in the kennel all night (although I am an early riser)  and I am kenneled periodically during the day. Sometimes I go into the kennel on my own to relax.  I do bark at strangers in the home if I am kenneled while they are there – but I quiet down quickly Potty Training-  I am almost completely housebroken – you just need to pay attention to how much water I have been drinking Things I am working on-  My foster mom is showing me that the world is not a scary place, and that we can have fun adventures together.  I was very nervous when I first got here, and new situations are still scary for me. My foster family takes me to a dog-friendly brewery, and I love meeting all the new people and dogs there.  Now that I am used to the humans in my home, I love to be near them, and like to get pets and belly rubs from them.  I am also learning that food on the counter does not belong to me -since I am very tall and have a hound’s nose, my adoptive family will need to make sure food is kept out of reach.  I have made great progress in learning to sit nicely for pets and treats instead of asking for them by jumping. Dogs-  I am being fostered with two adult dogs, and I follow them everywhere and love to play with them.  I would love another dog in my forever home, but it is not essential Kids -  Although I am very gentle and sweet, I am still working on not jumping on people.  Because of my size, it is best that I go to family with older children Cats-  unknown Walking-  My leash manners need some work, but I have learned that walking on a leash is not scary, and I love my walks now.  I rarely go potty on a leash, so it’s best that my forever family has a fenced yard, or has the patience to work with me on this Other things you should know about me- Like most extra-large dogs, I am a messy drinker, and can be a heavy drooler, especially when I’m nervous or if someone has food they are not sharing with me. I am spayed, up to date on vaccinations and preventive care, and ready to find a forever family If you would like to meet Bailey, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.
