Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Susanna! This 5-year-old Xoloitzcuintli/Cairn Terrier mix is a sweet and shy girl looking for a loving home. Susanna is leash trained, enjoys car rides, and loves playing with her toys. She's even-tempered but a little timid, so she'll need a patient person and potentially a confident companion dog to help her feel secure. She's also good with cats. Given her mostly hairless coat, she'll need some cozy sweaters to stay warm, especially in chilly Minnesota. One of her favorite things? Breakfast! If you're looking for a cute, calm companion who will thrive with a bit of TLC, Susanna might just be the perfect addition to your home. Watch this cute video of Susanna! Or this one, where you can see her happy tail wiggles! Susanna  is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program.   Click here   to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.     Click here   to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes.   If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an   adoption application.   An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Otis, the delightful pug mix with a heart of gold! From the moment he walked into his foster home, he exuded confidence and charm, instantly making himself at home. Otis is a true lover, not a fighter; he adores people and warms up to everyone he meets. His playful spirit shines as he initiates play, steals toys from his canine friends, and zooms around the backyard with joy. Otis is gentle and affectionate, often climbing into laps for snuggles. He gets along wonderfully with other animals and showcases a playful spirit without an ounce of aggression. He is crate-trained, happily eating and sleeping in his cozy crate, and his fosters are in the process of helping him perfect his potty habits. With his retired foster parents at home all day, Otis enjoys frequent outdoor adventures, allowing him to explore and play to his heart's content. Having been picked up in the Texas Rio Grande area, Otis has quickly adjusted to his new environment and is thriving. Although he is heartworm positive and will undergo treatment, it doesn’t dampen his cheerful demeanor. He loves food, toys, and, most importantly, the company of his people. If someone is looking for a sweet and loving companion to brighten their days, Otis is ready to become a cherished member of their family! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there, I'm Lorial!  I'm a 4 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix with a big heart and a little body. Life hasn't always been kind to me - my previous owners abandoned me, so I'm still learning to trust the world again. But I promise, if you give me time and love, I'll be the most loyal companion you've ever had. I'm a Texas girl at heart, so this cold weather is not my favorite-I'd much rather snuggle up under some blankets with you. Speaking of snuggles, belly rubs are my absolute favorite! I'll happily melt into your hands for as long as you're willing to pet me. I'm very smart and motivated by food and treats, which makes learning new things (like potty training) a work in progress but one I'm committed to. I just want to make my people happy. I love being close to my humans-wherever you are, that's where I want to be. I'd do best in a home without cats or larger dogs because they can be a bit too scary for me. I think I would get along with other smaller calm dogs though. I also think older, considerate kids would be ok for me as I appreciate gentle hands and soft voices. If you're looking for a sweet, smart, and loyal little girl who just wants to be loved, then I'm your perfect match. Will you be the family I am looking for?   Lorial is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them!
